Getting back into the football card market for the first time in years, 2021 Topps X Trevor Lawrence Football is an exclusive collaboration sold from Topps' online shop. Part of the set is designed by Trevor Lawrence's family.
Following a very successful collegiate career with the Clemson Tigers, Lawrence is considered the top quarterback ahead of the 2021 NFL Draft.
While Topps has previously issued player-curated sets, this is the first from the gridiron as most have been MLB releases.
2021 Topps 582 Montgomery Club members get the first crack via an exclusive pre-sale on April 20. The main release arrives on April 21.
The price is $75 per box with a 1:2 chance for a base parallel and a 1:5 chance for a hard-signed autograph.
2021 Topps X Trevor Lawrence Football Set Details
Featuring 50 cards in the set, 2021 Topps X Trevor Lawrence Football includes 30 cards that are dedicated to classic Topps designs of the past. The remaining 20 cards showcase the artwork of Trevor Lawrence's brother and sister-in-law (Chase & Brooke Lawrence).
Per Topps, "Chase and Brooke took inspiration from psychedelic period pieces from the 1960s/70s, as well as classic comic book and graphic novel illustrations." Their work includes oil paintings and computer-generated designs.
Look for base parallels, numbered to 199 or less, in every other box. On-card autographs are also in the mix, falling at a rate of 1:5 boxes. Per Topps, all signed cards are limited to 99 copies or less.

As Panini holds the exclusive for NFL and NCAA cards, the 2021 Topps X Trevor Lawrence Football cards do not feature any official team or league licensing.
2021 Topps X Trevor Lawrence Football Chrome Cards
Starting April 27, as part of the official 2021 Topps X Trevor Lawrence NFT release on Mintable, collectors can unlock physical Chrome versions for five of the stylized art cards. Collectors earn one Chrome card by purchasing all five "Open Edition" NFTs for Lawrence: Rising Sun, Moon Beamz, Lava Lamp, Star Portal, and Tangerine (Sunshine). The main online sale lasts for two days (48 hours).
To be 100% clear, the Chrome cards are real printed cards that are available only if you purchase all five digital NFT cards.
In addition to the base Chrome version, there are limited base parallels (#/99, #/49, #/25, #/16, #/10, #/5, 1/1) and signed versions that are numbered to 16 copies. Each collector receives one random Chrome card if they order each of the five different NFTs.
The winner of the 1/1 Interstellactic Retro-Space NFT auction also receives a Chrome SuperFractor Artist Proof signed by Trevor, Chase and Brooke.

If you’re not going into this without the word “RISK” flying around then you’re just not approaching this set the right way. It’s a shot in the dark and if the kid makes good then congrats to everyone involved. But, I still kept my Gregg Jefferies cards and my Sam Militello cards are still here, too. Have fun with this guy and his budding career and with a price tag of less than $100 and a good stack of cards this isn’t such a bad thing at all.
Think of the folks that paid $500 for 33 cards of Emma Raducanu and I haven’t heard anyone complain about a specialty set that was more than well made. When Topps goes high end with the price they usually follow up with a beautiful card. Both sets are wonderful to look at despite differing price points.
This set is better off being in existence than not. Lawrence still has the skills to make this set worthwhile in either way, it’s not going to break your back to carry this set for a couple of seasons. I’d say; if you’re a fan or even if this guy is the QB in your city, take a chance and set these cards in a binder and maybe start a collection. It’s priced just for that.

It’s not a perfect set, but it’s more than solid if you’re a fan and it’s enough to get you into Lawrence’s career even if you’re just a casual fan.
