2021 Topps Series 2 Baseball Cards

I got a cloth patch of Shohei Ohtani, but cannot find it listed anywhere. What did I get???

Hi i bought some of the repack topps series 2 blister repacks at biglots spent about 60.00 dollars opened about 5 packs on the 5th one i pulled the mike trout relic statistics auto 18/25 i like the chrome and silver foil bubble cards great product.

Overall, I’ve enjoyed Topp’s 2021 Seres 2 so far. The # of insert categories seems to increase every year, though. I thought the Jumbo RC patch relic was a little goofy (really just the manufactured relics in general), which leads to my Question – Re: the World Series Ring Relic – on the checklist it list the base as serial #’d/199. Why doesn’t the card itself have the serial # X/199 printed on it? Unlike different colored base foils, I would think that the relic ring would have the ser # on it. This may be a novice assumption on my part, but I would appreciate any light shed on this topic. Thanks! ….Tim

Centering on this stuff is poor 80% of time. Lots of poor corners on the parallels. Inserts centering is sometimes pitiful. One of the worst quality control years for series topps since the 2000s

The throwback cards for 1986 and 1965 are sweet EXCEPT they put the same rookies in each series. Such a shameless money grab, we don’t need ten different 1986 Dalbec, Hayes etc etc across all three releases. Shameful, I was picking those up and now I won’t since its just a waste of time.

I agree with you that the Topps Company is just kinda trudging along with the same basic overall format of their flagship wagon load of the same old basic inserts and colored parellel cards and don’t forget the overwhelming amount of insert auto’s that will be worthless in the future because insert cards , no matter what you do to them are just pack fillers in the end . With the Topps Company knowing that they are the only brand that is licensed by Major League Baseball and can show the team logo and the full team name , what is their motivation to really liven up a set of cards in the future ? Absolutely nothing . They know that the consumer is going to purchase their product regardless because baseball card collectors and baseball fans want to see their favorite player in a uniform with the team logos and the full city and team name on the card .Not some airbrushed crap with a card that has the city but no team name on it . No motivation , no need for any shake up in the foreseeable future .I have been collecting since 1968 when I was 8 yrs . old and I do not remember a more confusing border and miniscule players name lettering in all those years . I truly wish that Topps would shake things up with their overall flagship design but I would not bet 1 penny that it will ever happen . Jim

FYI… the Chrome 1965 Topps Redux Set Checklist, the cards in your list start with TC65-#, but the actual cards on the market are TH65-#.

Noticed that the Juan Soto Highlights set that is a Target exclusive doesn’t appear to have made it to the market. Any word if this set was cancelled due to the retail issues with Target?

I like the product but like others said, names are too small, hard to read.

Seems like Topps is being a follower instead of a leader in the sports card hobby. 2021 Topps is giving a strong Panini/Donruss vibe with card design and some of the variations like the green and orange sparkle. I’m a loyal Topps customer but would like them to shake it up for 2022. They’ve got into a routine with the same variations from one year to the next. They celebrate their past with memorable card designs but haven’t had a new memorable design in forever.

Firstly , I would like to commend the cardboard connection for it’s coverage of this set as I believe that you have done an excellent job as always , with one exception that I will mention at the end of my review . Moving on to the set itself , in my opinion the borders are just too cluttered and the players name is far too small to say the least . The vast multitude of insert cards is extremely overwhelming and the amount of auto’s is just as bad if not worse . It’s almost like a flashback of the massive over production of cards in general back in the late 80’s and early 90’s . Scarcity is 50 % of the key to appreciation in all collectables and the other 50 % is condition as everyone that collects should know . This flood of auto’s is not good for the hobby and it keeps getting worse year after year . I’m not real fond of Topps pushing the clear acetate cards in this set either . Baseball cards have always been cardboard and that’s what makes them baseball cards . Not acetate . I do wish that the 2 first cards pictured in this sets coverage , Ke ‘ Bryan James and Kris Bryant , would have had a black background because the left and right borders came out very nicely but the top and bottom borders blended into white background oblivion . I always like the mock – up pics you use because they are generally very well centered and are a good reference . How much do the retail products sell for if you’re not buying on secondary market. For example, are blaster $20 or $25. What about the rest of the retail products?

Wow crazy reviews. I mean is better than series 1 by a lot. I love the variations of the legends like mickie mantle and bae Ruth etc they are awesome… I put 4 star cause the design of the base cards but other then that this product has better rookies and better parallels than series 1

Wow the price of Topps Series 2, down $50 since this weekend 06/10/2021 when it was $150. It used to be where you can buy a box of Topps for around $50.

Card design is still one of the worst in the history of Topps, can’t even read the name of the player. Card stock seems to be thinner as well. Prices at our local for a jumbo box are $140 cheaper than series one so maybe prices will fall back to normal pre COVID. Broke one jumbo box to finish off the base set. The manu rellic and jersey card were both Sixto Sanchez! That sucked but at least the autograph was a good player, Carlos Correa. Nice even if the Astros are cheaters. Certainly beat the nobody auto I got in series one. Basically exactly what you would expect from Topps but again BOO on the design of this year’s product.

Josh Hader card #596 is one the worst cards Topps has done. If it wasn’t for same old back of the card, the 2021 series is the worst since
1962 series.

Topps may have to come out with a series 3 in addition to the update/traded set to include all the players who won’t otherwise get a card because of all the ridiculous inserts/chase cards. Of course we all know that won’t happen but I just hate to see the same players forgotten year after year who in many cases are pivotal players for their club.

Was anyone able to get a hobby box at all either from topps or a lcs? Checked all day long on topps website never seemed to go up. You think they would let us know if it was delayed.

The “Cut-Signatures”, IF you are incredibly lucky enough to get one, is what pushes 2021 series 2 above a grade of average. Design-wise, Topps has been in a rut for years.

Same problem with the A’s. Jake Lamb is gone and has been with 2 different teams this year so far. Jordan Weems is a triple A prospect in waiting, along with other players and Daulton Jefferies is only in double A. Yet established MLB players such as Chad Pinder, Frankie Montas, Yuserimo Petit, Lou Trivinio, Jake Diekman and Seth Brown are ignored. Get rid of the combo cards and include more actual Major Leaguers and put the rookies in the Pro Debut set where they belong. Another set missing this year is the factory team sets which occasionally included players that never made it into the so-called flagship set.

Topps needs to change things up Do away with the useless team cards and add 30 more players to the set.

I can’ give it a bad rating. Wander Franco cannot be in Series 2. He hasn’t played yet. Topps does seem to follow a rule with their flaghships and RC’s. If you’ve never played, you won’t be in it. I have absolutely no clue why Mercedes is not in this set. He’s been playing all season. He’s the only expected player missing. Not that I see a huge market for a 28 year old rookie who’s come way back down to earth over the last month.

Series 2 would usually include rookies that were on the roster week 1 of the new season.

No Kelenic, even tho he’s been up for 3 weeks. No Franco either, even tho he’ll BE up in ABOUT 3 weeks. Way to go Topps. You sure have your finger on the pulse of MLB. This product is going to tank all summer long.

I love opening flagship Topps! I was hoping to see RCs of Yermin Mercedes and Andrew Vaughn in this set, but I can wait till Update for those. Surprised to see Edwin Encarnacion and Steve Cishek in the White Sox team set, though. Series 2 seems too late to have cards that out of date.

The series 2 set includes 10 player cards for the Braves. 5 of which do not even play for the team anymore. Who chooses which players are included with the set and do they even follow baseball? 4 of the players were never even re signed by the team and one was a minor league free agent which played a whole game with the team before being DFA’d. There are multiple players who Topps has not produced a Braves card for in their sets. Matzek, Ynoa, Sandoval, Adrianza, among others would have been much better choices for the Braves to include in the set rather then who was chosen. Very disappointed.

I sure hope series 2 are centered better than series 1. The foil cards centering were horrible.
