A favorite for many, 2021 Topps Series 1 Baseball brings collectors another update of the long-running product.

Similar to last year's flagship set, there is an anniversary to celebrate. This time, Topps is honoring 70 years of baseball cards with a party for 50 fans. Very lucky collectors can find one of the 25 tickets inserted in random Series 1 packs.

Adding to the flagship selection is 2021 Topps Series 2 Baseball.

If you are just looking for the base cards, don't forget about 2021 Topps Baseball Complete Factory Set.

2021 Topps Series 1 Baseball Base / Parallels

The new flagship collecting season begins with 330 base cards, including top veterans and rookies, as well as Future Stars, League Leaders, Team Cards and World Series Highlights subsets. If the set size is correct, this is a decrease compared to the normal 350-card flagship sets of the past.

2021 Topps Series 1 Baseball Cards 3

The 2021 Topps Series 1 Baseball checklist also works in the standard selection of parallels, plus the all-new Platinum Anniversary (#/70) edition.

Per Topps, "A printing error has been uncovered on the 2021 Topps Baseball Series 1 base card parallels. The Platinum Anniversary Parallel (#’d to 70) and the 70th Anniversary Parallel (#’d 1 of 1) have printed using the same ink colors and patterns. The cards have been sequentially numbered to the correct quantities (70 and 1 respectively) and we have corrected this error for future iterations of or Flagship brand. We apologize for any confusion this may cause with our collectors."

In addition, the Hobby-only Clear parallels have 10 copies per card. However, the low-numbered series does not apply to the entire base set.

2021 Topps Series 1 Baseball Inserts

Moving to the inserts, most of the choices are new, as well. Featuring current players and retired legends, 70 Years of Topps Baseball covers seven decades of designs in the 70-card set.

2021 Topps Series 1 Baseball Cards 5

The History of Topps turns the focus to Topps itself via 10 cards that look back at key moments and subjects from Topps' past. In addition, Topps Through the Years works in 25 stars on some of the most iconic designs from the Topps portfolio.

Yet another cardboard celebration is on tap with 1986 Topps Baseball's 35th anniversary.

Part of a 70-card continuation line, the Topps Platinum Players Die-Cuts insert aims to identify the 70 greatest players on Topps cards. Series 1 has the first 25 players in the set.

However, it's not all about the action on the field. Stars in Service features top players who also give back.

These five inserts come as Blue, Black (#/299), Platinum Anniversary (#/70), Red (#/10), and Gold (1/1) parallels.

Taking inspiration from the 1990 Topps Double Header cards, Topps Double Headers pairs the rookie card and final Topps card for 25 key names.

And, finally, collectors can dive into the new season of Home Run Challenge with one card per Hobby/Jumbo box.

2021 Topps Series 1 Baseball Autographs

Of course, there are hits to be found in 2021 Topps Series 1 Baseball, including debuting 70 Years of Baseball Autographs and 70 Years of Baseball Dual Autographs (#/5). Single-player parallels include Black (#/199), Gold (#/50), Red (#/25 or less) and Platinum (1/1).

2021 Topps Series 1 Baseball Cards 6

There's also the on-card 1986 Topps Baseball Autograph line, with Black (#/199), Gold (#/50 or less), Red (#/25 or less - Hobby) and Platinum (1/1 - Hobby/Jumbo) versions.

2021 Topps Series 1 Baseball Relics / Auto Relics

Like always, the memorabilia selection includes commemorative relics exclusive to Hobby and Jumbo boxes. 2021 Topps Series 1 Baseball offers Iconic Card Patches with the 50 all-time best cards in Topps history redone as jumbo patches. Meanwhile, Spring Training Cap Logo Patches is for current stars.

Look for Blue, Black (#/299), Platinum Anniversary (#/70), Red (#/10), Gold (1/1), and Autograph (#/10 or less) editions.

2021 Topps Series 1 Baseball Cards 10

Standard relics consist of 1986 Topps Baseball Relics, Major League Material Relics, Postseason Performance Relics (#/99), World Series Champion Relics (#/99) and the one-of-one In the Name Relics with game-worn nameplates.

That leaves only the auto relics, including Major League Material Autograph Relics (#/50 or less), Postseason Performance Autograph Relics (#/50 or less), World Series Champion Autograph Relics (#/50 or less) and Topps Reverence Autographed Patch (#/10 - Hobby/Jumbo). These signed cards add Red (#/5) and Platinum (1/1) parallels.

2021 Topps Series 1 Baseball Buybacks / Sketch / Topper

In addition, collectors can find rare buyback and sketch cards in 2021 Topps Series 1 Baseball. With one card each from all 70 years, the one-of-one History of Topps Baseball Buyback cards come encased. Hand-drawn versions include standard Sketch cards and Shaped Sketch cards. The shaped edition is limited to 70 total cards that are exclusive to Hobby/Jumbo boxes.

Among the other odds and ends, Hobby Jumbo boxes are home to the 1951 Topps Major League All-Stars Box Toppers. These feature 25 players, while the on-card Autograph parallel is numbered to 10 or less.

2021 Topps Series 1 Baseball Flagship Design

Still skewing to a more modern style, the Jo Adell rookie card mock-up showcases the return of a full border for the first time in several years. While there have been partial borders in recent series, the last full border came in 2015.

Collectors will also likely notice the 70-year logo in silver in place of the standard Topps logo.

2021 Topps Series 1 Baseball Cards 15

At first glance, the diagonal nameplate does make it a little tough to pick out the name.

Naturally, we are curious about the back, as well, but that image was not provided.

If you are wondering how the design compares to previous styles, check out the Topps flagship gallery from 1951 to 2021 to get a full rundown of the many looks used by Topps over the years.

What is with the empty diagonal panels on the left side of the card? The craziest, ugliest thing I’ve ever seen on a Topps card, or at least since the burlap borders of 1968, which was a truly WTF moment before I knew that phrase existed.

Not bad, not great, 2021 Bowman looks A TON better than 2021 Topps IMO.

One question regarding the parallels, what exactly is the difference between the Platinum Anniversary numbered to 70 and the 70th Anniversary 1/1 cards besides the numbering? I see absolutely nothing different in the design of the 1/1. Any input would be helpful, thanks.

The only clear difference is the stamped print run.

The cardboard connection’s idea of making a list of just the RC cards in the base set is a good idea and I hope that you will continue this for all upcoming baseball card sets and following years would be great . As for the design of this set , horrible at best . Putting borders back on the cards is great but the 45 degree angle bars all over the place with the tiny players name is nothing short of heinous . I was totally amazed by the sheer amount of insert cards that are in this set .10 auto subsets , 6 auto relics , 10 auto/relic/buybacks , box toppers , box topper auto’s , clear cards and another 10 labeled as inserts . No matter how you look at it or what you want to call it , if it is added to the base cards or their colored parellel Ser.#d card , it’s an insert . This set of cards contains a total of 50 insert sets . 26 being auto’s . As with anything that is collectable , condition and scarcity will always be the deciding factor of appreciation and value in the future . Baseball cards have been pumping out auto’s for quite a while now and down the road it will be just like the card overproduction of the late 80’s and early 90’s . I can see it coming and I feel sorry for the people paying crazy money for auto’s now and in the recent past . Keep up the good work Trey . Jim

Hey you guys forgot one more thing in this checklist. For the “Chrome 70 Years of Topps Baseball Set Checklist” in retail tins, there is a 1/1 SuperFractor parallel for each card. People are posting pics of them on Reddit.

Can you add it please?

Trey Treutel
Trey Treutel

I’ve seen 1952 Redux SuperFractors but not for Chrome 70 Years of Topps. I need to confirm it before it’s added. You can email any images to trey@cardboardconnection.com

I have two concerns about this set. First, the design work on the front of the base cards is horrible. The font makes the player names hard to read and using team colors makes many of the team logos difficult to see.

My bigger concern is the embossing. The “70 years” logo is embossed in silver on most of the cards. Unfortunately, on the reverse, the embossing left an indent on most of the cards. This printing technique could end up reducing the grade on well over 50%.

I’m wondering how Beckett and PSA are going to grade cards with a visible indentation on the back. Based on their guidelines, this should be a substantial penalty. Will they make an exception because the blemish is due to a printing practice?

Potentially, “perfect” cards may be extremely rare in this set.

Nice product but the relics are player worn not game used which is odd and hard to find retail

I Posted this on the 2020 Series 1 page but it really belongs here.

I have been doing a deep dive into Topps flagship product for five years. Here is what I have learned. Numbers are rounded; comparison is 2021 to 2020 Series 1:

There are 5000 more parallel rainbow foil cards per player than last year (600 per player vs 5,600 per player). There are 17,500 more 1986 cards per player than 1985 cards per player. There are 1,700 more 2021 Walgreens Yellow Border cards per player than 2020 Walgreens cards per player.

Comparing 2020 Turkey Red 100 card set to 2021 1952 Redux 50 card set: There are 190,000 more 1952 cards per player than Turkey Red cards per player. In theory this means there are 190,000 more sets of 1952 than 2020 Turkey Red. Also, there are 17,000 more 1952 chrome cards per player than Turkey Red chrome cards per player.

Overall, Topps produced 13,000,000 more parallel and insert cards in 2021 than in 2020. For the base set, there are 330,000 more cards per player in 2021 than in 2020. This means there are 330,000 more Dylan Carlson rookie cards than Gavin Lux rookie cards.

I can share more if you are interested.

Like all the different parallel and insert sets. Did notice that the Yellow Wallgreens Cards are not listed as a parallel set.

REGARDING THE LINES IN THE FRONT (sorry for “yelling”, but here’s what I noticed about them):
When put in the standard 9 pocket sheet, the lines on either side of the card will “link” with the card next to it. Kind of a cool visual. Anyway, I don’t think they’re so terrible. I’ve only opened a 67 card hanger so far (12 rookies out of it, not bad for $10). Yea, the player’s name could be bigger, and having the 1986 set design incorporated for subsets/inserts/etc, not big on that, BUT, I believe they did that more so because it just happened to be the middle point (35 years) between 1951 and NOW. I’ll give it a chance though. I’m glad I’m into baseball instead of paying crazy amounts for Panini basketball product. Yeesh!

Jumbo Boxes $259.00 really? What has fundamentally changed? Oh wait, higher productions to meet the higher demands. Price should be constant or less, especially considering there isn’t anything else really being enhanced or offered here. Hobby pack around $8, give me a break!

As a graphic designer myself I couldn’t be more disappointed in the 2021 Topps design. It’s boring and the players names are way too small and the angle makes them even harder to read. The design is too plain. Topps uses borders because it says money because the can butt the cards next to each other (saving paper). I prefer the borderless, but these would look better even they at the very least had the player coming out of the photo, breaking into the border. But they didn’t to save $$. Because of this, they need to keep the design elements in the exact same spots, which really kills the horizontal cards. I really don’t understand the Topps Through the Years insert cards that show past autographed cards. What is the reason fro these, just to show you a autograph card that you didn’t get? The stock also seems much thinner than the past years. The 70th anniversary set deserved a much better product.

+5 The BASE set is awesome. Haven’t had a product this loaded with key rookies since 2018 Update. A lot of these rookies will likely be main-line stars in the coming decade.

-1 The INSERTS are horrible. Even golds are tough pulls, which means the presses were cranked up.

-1 I buy mainly retail, but purchased a hobby box and the ‘HIT’ was a commemorative MANUFACTURED spring training hat. It’s literally made for the product. What junk is that Topps?

mo p

it is getting out of hand w pricing. $125for hobby? i bought it but no way i open it. its getting tougher and tougher to buy cheaper boxes to enjoy opening. i stayed away from 2020 bowman products, and i thought 2021 toppswould be decent but the price point plus card design means im not buying any more.

Andy S

I can’t really rate the cards because I can’t find them. This is ridiculous. $150 for a hobby box of Series 1 Topps? $250 for a hobby jumbo box? I can’t even find blasters at Target. I like collecting sets. I think I am finally done with the hobby. This is just ridiculous. Freaking Topps website was sold out by the 3rd day of release when I finally looked! I’m not in this as an investment, but something I to relax and enjoy. I’m done.

Well this sucks! I gave in and bought two jumbo boxes because I am a fool! Card stock is beyond thin. Got a complete set but guess what NO AUTOS in either box! I went to my local target and got 3 jumbo packs. I got some of the key rookies so it was worth it. This design didn’t look that great at first when seeing it online, although bringing the borders back was nice. However, once I got the cards and looked through them, I thought it was a nice design. Overall I think the 2021 Topps cards are pretty good.

I just wrote the long rant(s) above. Way too much…apologies.
Basically the point was the design is opinion, but the font size of the name is an error by every Topps employee who had input on the card.

I went to the Topps Evolution page
https://www.cardboardconnection.com/evolution-topps-baseball-cards-1951-2017
to compare. Here’s the findings.

In 70 yrs only 3 years stand out. Two are not font issues, but style/background problems.
1996 and 2000. Just look at the cards in the link above (I also remember these years and looked at other images online) and you’ll see their problems

T2004 is the only year that may pose a font size issue similar to 2021. Thing is, its definitely bigger and the style makes it very legible.

I know, I know…why’s he hung up on the font size. I guess its just a small microcosm of how whack Topps is for such a big mistake on their flagship product (not to mention S2, Update, Chrome, etc which will have the same design). With ~500 employees and ~$200M in annual revenue you’d expect better…not just from a card design, working with instead of against their customers.

Hey Trey, I pulled a Sketch Card from a series 1 Hobby Box. I can tell it is Ronald Acuna Jr. but I cannot make out the handwriting on the reverse of the card. Knowing that one line is the signature of the artist, but I can’t make out the second line. I noticed there is a notation of the sketch cards here but no checklist. Is there ever going to be a checklist or somewhere I can confirm what sketch card I have?

Trey Treutel

Ryan P

Oh one edition. I’m not sure why I’m even confused with the bad design, font size error (that’s not an opinion people…thats a fact), prices, no worry about breakers or flippers, etc.

In every situation, Topps has run their company with a serious lack of respect for their end consumers. Each and every year they do what they want and have you conform to their whims (and sadly a lot of us do…myself included BUT at very reduced profitability level from me over the years).

A simple thing like a focus group of fans to use when finalizing the card design is a perfect example. It would be crazy to stake so much without one (given its series 2, update, chrome, holiday cards, and other ludicrous sets they make).

One thing that’s odd is that the economy has shifted to listening to the customer’s voice due to the internet and social media, but for some reason the opposite holds true for sports trading cards. Hmmm ya know, I wonder if having a monopoly on league and team usage has anything to do with it….

Ryan P
Ryan P

If you don’t like the design, its basically your opinion (I find it one of the worst in decades), BUT when it comes down to how small they made the player’s names that’s just a blatant mistake and design flaw. How the HECK could this pass approval from designer to mgmt to final decision w/out someone bringing this up!?!?!? Can you imagine the meeting the key employees had to approve the design without any of them saying “Well….you know, maybe we should increase the font size of the player’s name.”
Other exec – “Naw its a perfect size. If anything a little smaller might be the way to go.”
“Allright!!! We got ourselves a real winning design this year! People are going to love it!”

Ok, so again the design is opinion based and most opinions, including mine, not only don’t like it, but despise it.
The font for the names? How could that not be seen as an issue by at least one decision maker AND the card designer. It boggles my freakin’ mind.

Oh one other thing….What is up with 1 card per pack a 1952 card? Its FIFTY CARDS. Why one per pack? Its a waste of a good insert. Do a one every other pack and put an insert in between.
Maybe I’m missing something. Has a set of insert cards ever been put in every pack? I’m drawing a blank.

I got a good price on my jumbo box for $199.99 compared to others I’ve seen out there. My local shop doesn’t typically mark them up too bad. Still higher than 2020 which kind of stinks. As for pulls I got the SSP card 84 of Pete Alonso and a 1986 auto of Luis Patino /25 with my two jersey “hits”.

George S.

Names way too small. On the checklist it states red autos are #’d to 25 but I pulled a red Strasburg #’d to 10. I will still buy another box.

Keith
Keith

Not a great design, but the photos are pretty good. I see a bunch of complaints about the price of boxes and blaming it on Topps. Topps sold hobby boxes online for 79.99 which is the suggested retail. They can’t help it that your distributor/LCS/flipper decide to sell it at $130 or more. The high prices we see is mostly not from Topps, but they are stuck in that if they increase print runs, they run the risk of killing demand for their product in the long run. If they don’t, they get backlash from people priced out of the hobby. They are in a no win situation on that front, although they are printing money right now by the boatloads.

Vince
Vince

I thought 2020’s design was bad, but this is even worse to me. Not a fan of bringing the borders back (more chance of getting OC cards), diagonal, small font names are not great, floating rookie cup is weird and asymmetrical…just bad all around.

2018 and 2019 were such clean designs

David C Ewell

I’ve been priced out of collecting now. Topps boxes used to be fairly priced. Between both monopolies and the breakers and flippers, I’m done. Last year was bad enough. Vendors are also now corrupt. I’ve heard they arent even stocking certain product and keeping Hoops and Prizm for themselves. It’s a shame this hobby is only now for the rich elite and corrupt.

Sadly these are being run up by flippers and breakers. This is destroying the hobby we love. Stop buying from them. Boxes and packs are weighed by them or resealed. Flippers will ruin the hobby for along time to come if you don’t stop them. Topps print more and take their profits away and make them get their jobs back flipping burgers.

2 Stars based on price and the zig zag lines but it will not make any difference. A friend said last night he was at Target and there were 40 people standing at the card section waiting for series one! Yes 40 people for series one retail where you might get a $1.00 jersey card. UNBELIVABLE!!!!!

“But it is quickly becoming a hobby beyond the reach of your average adult. With each passing year I wonder how long I can continue to afford this “hobby.””

Agree 100%

Here is another example of how Topps runs amok.

On topps.com the hobby box is offered for $79.99 — of course it’s sold out.
My local card shop is selling the exact same hobby box for $125.

The local card shop is fleecing us. Support local?

Anyone see a problem here?

MAYBE I’ll buy a collated 330 base set on eBay. And then buy the others I want ad-hoc. Then again, maybe I’ll pass.

John C
John C

I am not a fan of this design at all. There is a fine line between edgy and gaudy. This design is gaudy. I agree with everyone that said the text is too small. I also feel like the team name should always be shown, whether or not the team logo is also included.

Because it is a milestone year, they should have tried to combine a classic design with a modern feel. The 2011 card was a good example of this.

But I can forgive a poor design. It happens sometimes. What I cannot forgive is the introduction now of the Ultra Short Print. I agree that Topps has completely lost touch with the collectors that comprise the backbone of the hobby. As many of you have stated, this is no longer a hobby for kids. I would be scared to get my son into collecting right now for fear he would trade away a 1/1. But it is quickly becoming a hobby beyond the reach of your average adult. With each passing year I wonder how long I can continue to afford this “hobby.”

Cheryl

Topp-russ? If I could give it fewer stars I would! I’ve longed for a return to white borders. As the saying goes, be careful what you wish for. Topps, you’ve made it much easier for me to walk away from collecting. I still have my first cards from 1972. Over-production, meaningless “base” inserts. Fare thee well.

IndyJeffrey
IndyJeffrey

My local card store is asking $225 for one jumbo hobby box. Yo!

Even if Topps includes all 330 cards in the box, is $225 worth it? Yo!

I seem to recall this same box cost $80 in 2019, and $140 last year.

IndyJeffrey

A couple things:

1) Is it safe to assume the complete set will be 660 cards?
2) The price is insane. If I choose to buy, I will probably by the factory set if that exist. Or maybe buy a collated 330 base card set for $40 from some eBayer. If I choose to buy. If.

I’m very sad about the fact that the prices are so high. it had a chance to be a great year for topps and I already feel let down by the fact of the price. only buying for the rookies. might be time to stop collecting though. again, 3 stars only for the rookies.

Booya

This is a special year.. and it certainly required a classic design… I dont mean a classic retro.. but a NEW classic design.
Instead, its actually very very poor.
I assume that Topps guys must have had like a few options to choose from before settling on this base design… they made a very bad choice.
players name is definitely too tight in the space.. it has to be more prominent on the card.
way too many un-necessary diagonals into the card picture… never before has Topps made such a busy multi slash into the image..while used for nothing…
I am giving 1 star… for the overall card.. but would give multi negative stars for the design .. bringing the overall average to just 1 star.
Price point for such a highly produced product is also unspeakably bad.

Design sucks and seriously $130 to $150 for a hobby box and $260 for jumbos. simple NO THANK YOU and I have been collecting Topps since 1959. Horrible and about time to leave this hobby. Used to be fun but no as much fun these days.

Brian
Brian

As usual almost half of the Oakland A’s players listed have already moved on to other teams via free agency…Topps should not list players on a team that they know have filed for free agency and instead showcase the players in the first series that are still on the team and who are often ignored in the second and update series.

Nicholas Leyland
Nicholas Leyland

This checklist looks great but if I can’t find this mass-produced product in stores it may be the nail in the coffin of my opening wax days. I really wish that people would consider NOT using breakers as I feel that they are the real problem, not the flippers. Those breakers drove up the price of hobby boxes by buying up everything at inflated prices which drove collectors to retail. Flippers are the end result of that.

James Earl Jones
James Earl Jones

Checklist looks great. A good crop of rookies in this class. With it being the 70th anniversary, it’s good to see some old timers in there.

Just can’t get over the price point and the design. Interested to see what Series 2 and Update will have to offer.

Also interested to see how long brick and mortar stores will be sold out within minutes of being stocked. It can’t go on forever right?

You think Topps will have a way to fix this? Probably not, they’re making tons of money. Especially with these Group Breaks. Breakers are buying countless amounts of cases. Topps no longer cares about the little guy.

Does anyone know where you can go to identify print runs of COMMON cards? Does Topps manufacture to order in the beginning or are there a limited amount?

Saw one breaker preparing to bust 24 JUMBO CASES! And there’s over 10 other breakers doing the same that Topps is promoting!

And of course, the insert cards will be incomplete because Topps unable to print cards of Mickey Mantle. Wish the Mantle family would loosen up.

Worst design in the history of topps baseball cards. Illegible player name and position, pointless geometric shapes cluttering the picture, and bizzare team logo presentation. If there was a zero star option, I would have chosen that instead.

Hammer-1

James Earl, you make some good points. Topps has now bowed to the breakers and flippers. They may well ruin the hobby of set building. They have already ran many of the kids out due to the flippers and their GREED. It is getting to the point that if you want a box of cards you must pay through the nose. If Topps goes under it will be because of their lack of concern for their core set builders. I also agree their card design is no prize. The flagship design has many flaws. I’m not the only person who feels this way. Wake up Topps.

James Earl Jones
James Earl Jones

Goodness gracious. This whole “Break Party” inviting all these “Breakers” is a disaster. Look at the price of a hobby box. Not a jumbo box, but a hobby box. Topps is taking full advantage. Good for them! Can’t even go into a store anymore and buy a pack of cards. Flippers camped out for hours waiting on the stocker. I have a job, can’t do that. And I’m certainly not going to pay four times the amount on eBay, or buy a case of cards from a distributor.

By the way, the cards look terrible. The name is the size of the fly on Pence’s head during the VP debate. Where is the creativity?

Just put Bernie Sanders in the background of every card. I’d gladly by a case.

I like the 70th anniversary stamp. I also like the white background. But why do the letters have to be so small? And what is the point of the lines on the left side of the card? It just makes the design busy. I hope they change it.

Richard Phillips
Richard Phillips

In the 1950s and 1960s Topps Baseball cards were works of art. Now they are just computer generated graphics on pieces of slick cardboard, which look all too similar from one year to the next. It’s sad. Mediocrity has taken the place of creativity.

Mike Smith
Mike Smith

I like the 70 year icon design in the upper right corner. A couple of people have asked and I’ll ask again, but with so many negative comments about the front design of these cards, does Topps ever change an upcoming release when a majority who have looked at it provided negative feedback? Personally, I would think starting the third week of November the presses have been running for a while now, and the design is what it is, and we’ll have to adjust to it, instead of the other way! And besides, it is very difficult printing the backs of these cards with 30 one way, then 30 another way, and…well, you get the picture! (Topps, you deserved that after 2020 Update) I’m still trying to figure out if I was upside down or was it the cards…or maybe a little bit of both!

Anthony C Meeks

This design looks like it was done by a high school art student who is using graphic design software for the first time and thinks he has to use all of the features of the program on a single design. A simple classic design would be more appropriate for their 70th anniversary.

I agree with many of the previous comments. If it’s possible to tweak or completely scrap this design, please do it! These look just like Donruss cards-cheap, horrible design. The name is too small. 1 Star is generous. I can’t believe they chose this design to honor 70 years. I don’t know if they ever change designs after they release pics, but I sure hope they do. It’s almost painful to look at – the focus should be on the ballplayer, his name and his team, not the design of some untalented 8th art student. I will not be collecting this set as is, which is saying something since I have every year since ‘55.

I like the look. Much better than the awkward 2020 cards. Each year should stand out from all the other years and these do that. Don’t make a mistake like the ’98 thru ’00 when the designs all look alike. I look forward to them.

Too much junk on the front of the card and name barely legible. Nothing will ever take the place of the cards from the 60’s and 70’s.

Lots of room to improve these cards. I agree with those asking why all the geometric lines and shapes on these cards. What purpose do they serve. In my opinion they make the cards look very busy and cheep. They are baseball cards, not works of art. Concentrate on the player not the artistic view. You really don’t need all of the injected junk on them. Just keep the borders and fix the rest.

I also agree that white borders should be back as it is a lot easier to trade and sell raw cards without that excessive scrutiny

I like the return of white borders since 2014 but the geo shapes is distracting and the name fonts are barely legible. I hope this is only a concept and they correct it. Almost has the modern Bowman feel to it.

** Looks like Donruss with logos. Still better than horrible 2020 design.

Design is way too busy, and the players name is too small and lost in one of many weird geometric”stripes”

these cards with borders are nice, they look like something from donruss, still better than cards since 2016.

I am not a fan. It seems the Topps design lately tries to touch upon the futuristic look and can the name be any smaller? The one positive is the border is white according to the picture.

I don’t like it as much as 2018 and 2019, which are among my favorite recent Topps designs, but overall, I think it looks good! I wonder if running the nameplate horizontally along the bottom would help? In any case, I’ll be happy to open packs of these in 2021.

Am I the only person who thinks these look a bit Bowman-esque?
