Pairing local police officers and MLB players, 2020 Topps Pittsburgh Pirates Police Baseball continues a long tradition of trading cards issued through police departments across the country.
The set is part of a joint promotional effort between Pirates Charities, the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police Officers and Topps Company.
2020 Topps Pittsburgh Pirates Police Set Details
The 2020 Topps Pittsburgh Pirates Police Baseball checklist has six cards. Fronts featuring the players are done in the 2020 Topps Series 1 Baseball design. Instead of stats, the backs display six Pittsburgh PD officers in their uniforms as well as the "At Your Serice" motto logo.
Backs also add a Nelson Mandela quote: "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world."
According to MLB.com, "Officers typically distribute the cards to children as a goodwill gesture rewarding good behavior and positive attitudes, and they’ll also hand out their cards as the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police launches its 'Need a Mask, Take a Mask' initiative."
