2020 Topps Lionel Messi Champions League honors the soccer superstar with his very own online-exclusive set.
Topps has previously issued collaboration sets for MLB players Bryce Harper, Francisco Lindor, Fernando Tatis Jr. and Vladimir Guerrero Jr, as well as entrepreneur Gary Vee, but this is the first player set to use Topps' UEFA Champions League trading card license.
2020 Topps Lionel Messi Champions League Set Details
As many collectors are aware, Lionel Messi has been an elite player for a long time, so he knows a thing or two about the sport. The 2020 Topps Lionel Messi Champions League set lets him personally identify 40 of the best UCL players in the base set. This includes his favorite "Top Talent" and "Youth on the Rise" subjects. All 40 cards come in the box set and backs display his quotes about the player.
Messi is also the subject of an entire insert. The Greatest Goals / Greatest Moments line comes in every box and features 10 of Messi's top performances.
The basic 50-card set sells for $25. Collectors looking for something rare and quite a bit more expensive can look into the Autograph Edition.
These contain all 50 cards from the regular box set along with one guaranteed Lionel Messi autograph from the Greatest Goals / Greatest Moments signature parallel. The signed cards are numbered to only 10 copies, adding Blue (#/4) and Gold (1/1) parallels. Boxes go for $500.
While most sets have a countdown timer, 2020 Topps Lionel Messi Champions League does not have a fixed expiration date at this point.
