Below average, purchased a case, most cards had streaks or scratches. Disappointing.
I’ve been looking for Mega Box Chromes and can’t find any. Did the Mega boxes get cancelled with the rest of retail?? thanks.

Found a handful of packs today in Gainesville target. 5 bucks a piece. Pulled a sweet 9/71 DJ Lemahuea red ink out of my stash. Hobby emblem on packs

Heads up — print run on flip stock variation is far more than 5; I have heard of 40 in a box, and I’ve seen one person with 6 Eloy flip stock cards.

I am sure this product would be great if Topps and retailers weren’t trying to ruin this hobby. My 6 yr old and happened to be in Walmart and saw that they had the $10 hanger boxes, he was super good so I said he could have one. Went to check out and it rang up as 24.98! Surely this was a mistake, got a different one same thing. The Walmart employee said it was correct because people are selling them for 2X the cost on ebay. Are you kidding me? First topps makes it impossible to get and now the retailers are greedy and screwing us. Shame on Walmart! Boycott Walmart!

the walmart hanger boxes are 3 Hobby packs and contain no retail inserts (i.e. Tattoo, scratch-off, or Bazooka mini)…I opened 1 just out of curiosity and got 1 SP and 2 regular insert cards in the 3 packs…its a total rip-off!!

Hanger box at Wal Mart was $24.98 for three (3) packs of nine (9) card each. $1 per card, roughly three (3) times the normal price. I put it back. Then I read that these are hobby packs sold in retail hanger boxes, but I am not sure. It is all very strange. I wanted to collect the Bazookas, but I don’t think there will be any.

The retail has finally appeared on EBay, though I haven’t seen any in stores. Hanger and blaster boxes.

4 Stars is what I feel this set could be. Over time I’ve bought half a case from 2 different LCS’s. A total of two different production codes, but the same damage on nearly every base card. Ive sent some back but to send everything would be a huge hassle. I really like the look of this set and have pulled a couple pretty good cards. A Luis Robert Mini in my first box. I didn’t know about the limited retail boxes until I read these comments.

Ok so let’s get real for a second about the checklist. Generally update sets contain players that played during the regular season but previously didn’t have cards (true rookies). Season starts in late March. This year COVID delayed everything a lot. Manufacturing was impacted as well as cutoff for starting to produce. So unless you wanted 50 reliever rookies the die was already cast.

That said, the quality control is really bad – the cardboard seems flimsier and cheaper and I am getting cards that look vintage ’71 with the damage.

In terms of flippers, stores in my area (Chicago land) are in many cases no longer carrying product or limiting it. But then again enough flock to locations that do have it, buy it then go to LCS to try to sell them right away. Because the reality is that the online wax breakers wont do Heritage because too much labor for them. Unless there is a baseball Zion coming up the pike

Paul,
I have heard some lame excuses but Topps ran out of time takes the prize. I truly hope Topps does not believe collectors are that dumb but that sounds like something they would come up with. That’s right up there with we don’t have your redemption so here’s your replacement.
SAD.

Was watching a six case break on YouTube. The jabs family. He mentioned that there is no retail product because tops ran out of time.

Signs finally posted at targets in houston. 2 boxes per transaction. What keeps somebody from going to 4 different registers with 2 boxes each?

Greg Miller. You say the Robert RC’s $10.00. Who knows in the Topps 2011 update the Trout card was not what it is today. There are also 30 plus other rookies in this set. Who really knows what will happen to them. Maybe another Mantle will emerge. Even if you buy direct from Topps you will not get any cheep prices. The market is what it is.

So, George S, correct me if I’m wrong.. you spent $200+ to be 8 cards shy of a set that you can currently buy on EBay for $85, and almost certainly in month for $75 or less. Then got an auto that would sell for what? $25?.. two extra Robert RC’s at $10? So, I am super glad to see you supporting your local shop, but my greater point is: I can’t see the value in the product – even by avoiding flippers/retail? If you paid $60 each for those boxes then maybe… but I’m betting not.

I only buy at my local card & comic shop. Got 2 boxes and was able to do a complete base set and 17 of the 25 SP’s. Decent auto, Jeff McNeil and 3 Luis Robert RC’s. Walmart & Target has people stalking for the product to be put on shelves. They are ruining the hobby. Stores should limit purchases.

Greedy flippers buy up everything at Walmart and Target — Im exiting the baseball part of the hobby because if high Ebay prices, shillers and snippers

Brandon,
I wonder if the 71 tattoos,Bazooka, and scratch offs will be in those mega boxes. Hope I find one before the flippers get ALL of them. They are on the high number check list. Who knows ????

Brutal checklist. Brutal product quality control. Brutal way to end 2020. Hard pass on what could have been a great set.

There will be no Heritage High retail outside of the mega boxes. No blasters, hangers, cello, or wax packs this year.

just robert in here; may not even buy his card on ebay. i see a huge animosity to flippers, but it has gotten out of control. i admit i was one of them, but im also a collector. the only products ive flipped were 2018 topps chrome update, and 2017 bowman megaboxes. now i dont even go to target because even the substandard products are gone. well 2020 update is there, lol.

Trey,
The 2020 Heritage High checklist shows 71 Bazooka,71 Tattoos, and 71 scratch offs. In the 1-500 series these were retail products. I have yet to find, see, or hear of any retail high number. There is nothing on E-bay about them also. Do you know if they will be out or just forget about any retail. I know there have been big complaints about the retail and the flipper problem.

This is the checklist from Topps. Beyond that, there are no other details at this time.

The checklist is below average. The print run looks to be high. Let the flippers buy it up it will loose them money. Buy singles.

absolute GARBAGE. Bought 2 boxes w/ odd & even ser #s &both boxes had exact same cards. Numerous cards also had damaged corners and or dimpling near top. Topps quality control is non existent.

Same old worn out problem in retail. IN Houston, the distributor employees hold product for their friends or family. Ive run into them telling me, Im holding those boxes for somebody. Its a joke. Stores here dont care. Plenty of upper deck tins on shelfs. lol

Paul Shinkar. I for 1 hope you meet up with the flipper. I wish that Topps, Panini, etc would stop the retail for a while and make the cards hobby only. That would stop the greedy few from buying all they can get for $20.00 and putting it on E-bay for $30 to 50 for their personal profit.Collecting is a hobby and they have ruined it mostly for the kids who buy a lot of retail that they can afford. Most hobby dealers have the lower priced card packs for the kids and of course the hi dollar for the other collectors. The dealers I know will not sell all their cases to these few bums unless they pay 5 times their cost which we all know they won’t pay. I have seen lately some stores limiting the amount the flippers can buy to 2 boxes. Good for them. I know they have been getting a lot of complaints about this problem.

Paul Shinkar

There is a guy in my area in Ontario who goes around to Walmarts and buys everything. Often there is nothing on the shelf – so I spoke with the seller who stocks the shelves and she said he follows her from store to store and fills a big buggy with everything – baseball, basketball and hockey. I am waiting to meet him and have it out with him.

There are 2 Pirates in the update set. Two.

One didn’t play for them all year (Kramer) and the other played 21 games before being traded (Dyson). No Ke’Bryan Hayes, no Keller, no Tucker, no Brault, no Gonazlez, no Brubaker, no Kuhl… In total for 2020 Heritage, the Pirates have 15 cards, including 4 players that didn’t play for them at any time this year… So 11 total cards for players that suited up for them this year… If I could rate this product a 0, I would.

Seriously, do people that know nothing about baseball put these checklist together. So disappointed. Between base heritage set and this, there are over 100 Greatest Moments cards, only two Tigers and both Kaline. LOVE Kaline, favorite player but the team had many STARS in this era. Just like disrespecting the 1968 team, McLain and Lolich a few years ago.

Tom Johnson
Tom Johnson

I was seriously disappointed by the checklist for this set. I thought we would see players traded at the deadline, rookie call ups. This is Topps regular product rehashed.

Tom
Tom

This may be the all time worst checklist Topps has ever put out for an issue. The only two subsets of any interest to me are the Ernie Banks and the 1971 Pirate autos. Terrible !!!!!!!

Mark
Mark

Going to have to steer away from this product. Topps could have salvaged this set with some key rookies but has opted to save them for 2021 just like they did in 2020 Update. Let the flippers go nuts for it, I’ll pass.

Brian
Brian

The auto’s I like are those of players who actually played in 1971. Wish there were more of them rather than these kids who weren’t even a thought back then. Oakland gets 2, Vida Blue and Rollie Fingers. The Tigers as usual get none now that Al Kaline is gone.

I completely agree that retailers like walmart & target should put a limit on how many packs & boxes these flippers should buy. This high number series looks really good. Maybe one day the people at Topps will finally make Heritage a 3 series set & cut down the number of insert cards.

Justin Jeffries
Justin Jeffries

Why is there a Yasiel Puig card in this set with the Cleveland Indians? Granted, that was the last team he played with. Back in 2019!! He’s a free agent, and the Indians didn’t resign him. He didn’t play in 2020! This is just another example of the very bad player choices that Topps makes in their sets. Just like not having an Alex Gordon card in any Topps base set this year. Gordon, who played his whole career with the Royals, even won a gold glove in 2020 in his final season, gets no card.

Rob
Rob

After seeing this checklist for the first time, I gotta honestly admit that it’s pretty seriously lacking. So many more additions could’ve been included to make this product a lot more eye-appealing. I was half expecting to see SP action variants and/or autos of standout rookies such as Randy Arozarena and Devin Williams. But I was unable to find their names among the lists. If what I’m seeing has already been finalized, then Topps is being incredibly neglectful of the impact that such additions could have had on the product as a whole. As such, they will likely lose considerable financial potential on this one. The Luis Robert cards seem to be the only thing that will probably keep 2020 Heritage High Number afloat. But even that I believe won’t be enough.

Cancelling some of the retail may slow down the E-Bay flippers who go around buying all these products and re-selling them on line at twice the price. I hope Topps cancels Target an Walmart also or make these stores limit what these clowns can buy. Give everyone a chance to buy not just a greedy few.

Trey Treutel

Some Retail was officially canceled a few weeks back. Just the Target-only and Walmart-only formats remain. Not sure if that has been changed to all Retail, though. Regardless, Hobby is still on.

Should we be expecting rookies here that are not in update? I am a Heritage collector, but I need to determine if I should get a case, or just 3-4 boxes to finish my set. Update was a massive let down, and I just want to make sure they don’t burn me twice.

I’d imagine the selection will be similar to Update Series but we won’t know for sure until Topps sends out the checklist.

LD has a point. With the expanded rosters and only a 60 game season there will be a lot of rookie cards up coming. Topps update comes out October 30 (maybe) this leaves room for many rookie cards in the Heritage Hi. This will drive the demand way up and knowing Topps they may even short print this set who knows it’s all about money. I wonder what a box of these will cost?
We shall see.
