2020 Topps Five Star Baseball Cards

I would like to start my opinion on this specific set of cards by stating that the packaging could not possibly be any more convenient for the consumer . 1 pack in a box with 2 cards in that single pack . At least the corners of the cards shouldn’t be dinged and white or soft and fuzzy . Thanks very much Topps Company for your gracious packaging . If you’re fortunate enough to have money to burn on this product , make sure you say a prayer before you open your pack or packs . The rookie auto cards are a very distinguished nicely bordered card and you would think that every single one better be centered perfectly at $90.00 per card . We all know that the Topps Company is easily capable of doing it . From what I’ve read from the other comments , it seems that there is a good amount of rookie cards in this product that the huge majority of will have mediocre at best , baseball careers . All in all , I believe the vast majority of people that purchase a box or 2 of these cards are going to take a bath on these cards courtesy of Topps . At least they could have substituted the Kathryn Hepburn celebrity card with a rare pic of Jimi Hendrix playing a banjo . What’s your opinion on these cards Trey ? I would appreciate to hear your take on this set . Personally , I’m going to pass on this product . I’ll probably try to cherry pick a Nico Hoerner on EBay . Jim

Not worth the gamble at $180 per pack price-tag. Sure you might pull a very valuable card, but I just opened a few packs and the best thing I got was a Patrick Corbin auto. Should’ve spent my $$ on individual cards

Not the best Five Star release. There are some rookies that could surprise down the road.

Following up on my earlier comment. Did a trade deal for in store credit at my local. Did one pack and stopped. Hit a Wilson Contreras auto and a redemption for a Five Star Aaron Judge Five Tool auto. Time to stop. Gamble paid off for once. No need to press my luck any further.

Just watched a bunch of case breaks and my take you get one pack with an excellent autograph, one pack of an okay player and the next six packs contain a bunch of rookies that may or may not ever amount to anything in the big leagues. I might gamble on one pack but not any more than that based on what i saw. Topps could do better for the price they are charging.

It is important to note the ‘Marketing Sell Sheet” blurb for this years Five Star…
says
‘Every card in this world-class set features an on-card autograph from one of the best players of MLB.”

We shall soon see…
anyone who buys this product knows from previous years that Topps always adds too many Rookie Card players that do not belong in such a premium product..
the 2019 product was pack after pack of DJ Stewart or Ponce de Leon RCs… I saw at least 4 cases breaks with multiples of such guys….
Lets see if this years checklist contains as many duds as last year..hope not.
