2020 Topps Archives Signature Series Active Player Edition Baseball Cards

Good set if you like dime a dozen autos! This set is the ultimate slap in the face from Topps. Unlikely to find a card worth half the value of what you pay!

I pulled a Cabrera redemption and it showed up today 2017 chrome 1/1

Absolutely, positively the worst card investment I’ve ever made. Paid $885 for an unopened case of 20 boxes, will probably only be able to recoup $250, if I’m lucky. At least half of these cards are only $10 each, virtual unknown players. Zero stars or superstars. Totally underwhelmed. Never again.

Opening this product feels unique. It is interesting to collect but is not an investment. I like it.

Opened 5 boxes. Got two 1/1 cards! Eloy Jimenez, and Matt Carpenter. Then got a Fernando Tatis Jr. Auto out of 67, 2017 Bowman. The last 2 were Keaton Hiura, and a Shane Bieber.

The 1/1’s were an awesome surprise.

Absolutely a waste of money !!! Odds of getting anything worth the money that it cost is slim next to none !! Save your money and put it towards something that has more than 1 card of some no name Player. Trust me you will be glad you did !!

I have yet to see a Miguel Cabrera card (just like last years Will Clark) so I suspect none exist. Also saw a 1 of 1 Matt Olson card (at $450) that was previously issued in the 2018 Archives Signature set as a 10 of 14, which I have. Want to bet he signed this “1 of 1” card the same time he signed the other 14 cards?

Several 1 of 1 cards that I suspect will be 1 of many in subsequent issues of this set…

Complain, complain, complain then ask when the release date is. Lol priceless.

I really enjoy opening this product! I don’t why so many downers, it is fun to open!

As IndyJeffery stated , stop buying this garbage that’s packaged as Topps Archives Signature Series that’s nothing but a bunch of leftovers gold stamped and more than likely computer generated supposed on card autos . The Topps company more than likely laughs all the way to the bank with the thought of how can anyone be so gullible to purchase this junk . Then thinks , if there are people buying it , we’ll keep putting it out there . Smartenup fellow collectors , stop buying this crap !

At the rate Topps keeps moving the release date back this “product” may not be released until mid-season…

Exactly, I have seen several cards that were supposedly only a 1 of 1 autographed card only to show up again the next year as multiple signed cards. And in fact I have a Jason Giambi card that stamped as a 1 of 1 card only to have found the exact same card stamped as a 12 of 20 card from the same issue. I actually have both of them. Same thing with a Ron Cey card and and a Dennis Eckersley card. I suspect Topps has the players sign multiple cards of the same year and issue’s them in different years as “rare” and collectible”.

Why would you want a recycled card (some of them not actual 1s of 1s) and all with a gold foil stamp that was not on the original? You have to be a complete idiot to buy this garbage. Then again, as long as all the idiots keep buying the garbage, Topps will continue to make it; just doing what the laws of supply and demand dictate. Don’t like it? Don’t buy it. Unless and until folks learn to say NO to these greedy companies with no imagination and poor quality, nothing will change.

I guess Topps couldn’t get the millionaire players they picked for this issue to return the cards they supposedly signed, eh?

I remember the days when you could actually get an autograph, even from a future HOFer, at the ballpark without forking over an arm and a leg. Greed and free agency have destroyed that, made players unaccessable and given rise to new ripoffs by the card companies.

I have always liked these releases. If buying just one box you are taking a chance, I have opened several cases over the past few years and have never been disappointed. In retired I have pulled Jeter and Aaron, and a few other HOFers so cool because the Aaron was a legit vintage card as well. In active I have pulled Trout, Judge, Bryant just to name a few. It is a diceroll, but so is buying up retail blasters.

Any word on which players will be in this issue?

The annual set sees a huge shift on the release calendar. Previously a mid-year option, 2020 Topps Archives Signature Series Active now leads off the 2020 Baseball Card season.

Wonder why they did this.

Doesn’t series 1 which used to be the first product of the year bring in enough money.

Previous seasons have offered a Retired Player Edition later in the year, as well.

Expect this to get moved up as well.

New for 2020, collectors can find limited dual autographs “featuring some of the biggest stars from MLB.”

Considering they have not made a dual card of players in quite some time and since thee are no cards that feature two current players expect them to print special cards just for these ones.

Yeah, it’s a spendy chance sometimes. First box was a Jeter 1/1. Got a Sale 1/1 and an Erickson 1/1. After that, crap. I’ll just go back to focusing on hobby. Series 1/2, Allen and Ginter and Topps Tribute, love those cards. Perfect thickness and always a good hit in each box.

The only way this will change, is if people stop buying these releases.

ONE star review just as a HUGE WARNING if you buy expect to get mostly absolutely nobody autos from this product unless Topps really steps up from the 2019 product, which was HORRIBLE! I know I bought box after box thinking this had to get better! It didn’t and after breaking 10 boxes, I have maybe $50.00 of total value if I was selling. There were some kids in the card store and I couldn’t even give the cards to them! MONEY GRAB by Topps unless they change their ways and I don’t see that happening! BEWARE!
