2020 Topps Archives Baseball Cards

Only confusion I have is the black parallels are supposed to be /250 instead they are /99??

That’s the only thing Phil Hughes is kinda famous for is his youtube it sure wasn’t his pitching

Bought 3 Hobby and 2 Blaster boxes, from 4 different sources and still 26 cards short of complete set, not sure how Topps is packaging up cards, but they did a poor job because numerous of the same cards were in all 5 boxes I bought and the autos I got were Tom Henke, twice, Bob Wickman, Kevin Millar, Rich Gedman, also twice, and Mike Pagliarulo, thanks Topps, appreciate the effort!

I live in Oklahoma & it’s the same story here. 2020 has been awful in terms of retail availability. Too many wannabe “breakers” buying up retail in order to flip. I really hope they enjoy the cards bc financially they’ll likely end up losing money.

I have 8 different Targets & Wal marts within a 25 mile radius where I live , and for the past 3-4 months I haven’t been to find anything, the cards are gone. I refuse to pay the ridiculous prices on eBay. I’ve been collecting Archives since 2012 but this year doesn’t look good. It’s disappointing to see the direction this hobby is going.

SMH. Had to have been a mistake/oversight. I’m a Pirates fan and I don’t want 2 Kiner cards in this set. I agree with others that Topps should integrate a little more variety, mix in some different old-school players. There are plenty to choose from.

These should be named ” Topps Cornball ” . Just plain weak , very , very weak . Talk about worthless and useless cards , these are the pinnacle . Sad 😢

Just picked up a second blaster box, not one parallel-this never happened last year. Also where is Mike Yaz? I mean one of the great moments (and should have been a great card) was him hitting a HR at Fenway and being congratulated by his Grandfather Carl. Also, the nickname cards are awful. Got the Ernie Banks card today, what an embarrassing card.

Agree with Jeter decisions and the Indians comment. Would it kill ya to roll out a Von Hayes fan favorite from the Indians

Two stars simply because for the past forever I haven’t hit a single auto that you would actually want. Love the 55 and 74 designs but again, come Topps put an autograph in there that some of us would like to actually have in our collection.

Bought a Blaster Box today. Didn’t pull any parallels, variations or autographs.
The Good-1974 section is good. The Washington variation is a proper nod to Topp’s History. 1955 looks okay, not much of a fan of 2002. The bad. The 1955 variations stink. The player selection stinks-too many of the same players (Nomar again? Monte Irvin??). Very little variety and no new players pre-1950 and only three at that (Wagner, Ruth and Cobb). Got the oversized Pete Alonso Card-blah. No duplicates at least. Not as good as last year.

Being an older collector I enjoy this product. It varies year to year how much I like the design but this year I really like the 55 and 74 Topps card designs. This is a collectors set, not much flash or sizzle. With the varied designs used it makes it less boring than Heritage. There is some sneaky variations to generate some interest and a reason to look closely at the cards.

If I could rate this product less, I would. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT purchase this product. It is absolute crap. Out of 20 autos, I got one that’s worth more than a buck. I received a bunch of ugly inserts, numbered cards that were pitiful, and no, I repeat, NO variations. Now this is out of a CASE. Expensive and just absolute trash. I have purchased Archives every year, and I swear this is my last year. Topps is going downhill as far as their product. The cards are uglier and cheap. I’m done with Archives. Thanks for nothing Topps! Whoever comes up with their ideas of these ugly cards, needs to be fired. Get someone who can think – maybe get someone younger that has some smarts, someone in grade school would do much better. Any as far as the correlation, OMG…pitiful!!!!!!!!!

Archives is a set for people who love baseball. I usually open 3 boxes to make a set though its getting harder because of the sps they add to the base set.

Nickname cards are awesome! Love the on card autos of players that made an impact on baseball at some point in their career. Very educational.

Scored a vlad jr redemption 1960 style. Will be a cool card when it gets mailed!

With all of the players past & present to choose from for this 300 card base set why would card #’s 74 & 210 both be Ralph Kiner – Pittsburgh Pirates & card #’s 96 & 129 both be DJ LeMahieu – New York Yankees?

Bought 2 boxes – pulled a Roger Clemens Rookie1985 Topps Original Autograph #8/11 and Luis Robert Red #26/75 so I am biased but I have always liked this product

not a very exciting product…3 boxes, 6 “Fan Favorite” (which seems to translate to mediocre) autos, 1 low numbered parallel (/299 isn’t low in a set like this). This used to be my favorite, but it is a far cry from the 2012 set, which is still the Archives standard bearer. Won’t be buying anymore 2020…

Once again, they use a year for Derek Jeter that’s been used before. This year, they should have printed a 1974 version of a Jeter card, instead we get the 1955 one that we already saw in 2004 Heritage. They did the same thing last year, when they should have had a 1975 Jeter card. I get so tired of these bad decisions by Topps. As an Indians fan as well, it’s disappointing to see the same “fan favorite” players each year. They need someone who will put more thought into the set composition.

Received hobby box this morning before checklist came out. Autos Kevin Bass and Buck Showalter notthing special Best Card was Johnny Bench purple # out of 175 . Did get rookies Alvarez,Luzardo,Robert,Lux and Bichette. Also Bichette 1955 Bowman.

I agree with @Dan above. One of the few sets I (can afford) to collect.

@joe13 Hopefully the 1974 Ted Williams pictured is the Red parallel #/75.

Looks great. I wonder how the are going to do the color parallels for the 2002 cards with them having the gold border for the base. I like the box topper mini posters. They remind me of the old Costacas posters.

Topps used white border background on there 1974 set, hopefully there not using red or team colors for background as part of this years archives. 1955 is classic. 2002 topps with gold looks good, one of the better looking sets they did. Topps threw a curve with 1974 considering 1974 archives will be 2023 heritage.

Hopefully they really mean all of baseball history and not just 1976. If they do not have the babes trade then it will not be a true set of infamous trades.

Tapping into the Field of Dreams game between the Yankees and White Sox is the 1989 Topps Corn Field Variation insert that adds corn stalks to the ’89 look.

Maybe they will have pieces of real corn stalks added into cards. HAHAHAHAHA I would not put anything past them.

These look horrible. The parallel sets are awful. Corn on the card? Who comes up with these ideas? Count me out. Enough is enough.
