I love optic period in football and baseball. Not having the logos in baseball doesn’t really male a difference to me!

It is what you expect from a panini chrome product…shiny and lot of rainbow holo prizmy effects. I was able to get a hobby box for $115 as soon as it released and that was probably a decent price for it though it feels like a sub $100 product. Definitely not worth $200 range but then everything is over priced this year. Typical of Panini baseball product cards are not worth much on secondary market, I pulled a Jasson Dominquez holo prizm that is worth about as much as a Bowman paper, and not as much as a Bowman Chrome non refractor.

In a lot of ways, this is actually better than the similarly comparable (yet more pricey) 2020 Topps Chrome. Obviously, the catch though is that all Panini/Donruss products lack MLB licensing which prevents usage of MLB names and logos in the products themselves. And Optic is no exception to this rule either. That being said, you still get on average 5 auto’s per hobby box compared to only 2 auto’s per Topps Chrome hobby, which itself is somewhere between 25% to 50% more expensive than Optic. And as far as presentation, Optic also has (in my opinion) a better looking card design as well as flashier more eye-appealing parallels. There used to be a time not so long ago when I considered Topps Chrome to be my #1 favorite card product to look forward to every year. But now, sadly, those days may now be over due to overpricing. And perhaps Donruss Optic will be the one taking it’s place as the card product that I’ll mostly be looking forward to from now on, unless of course something drastic changes.

Not bad. Bought the last 16 card value pack at Walmart to see what the hype might be. Here’s what I pulled- Jonathan Hernandez RR Auto Pink Velocity, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Mythical, Aristides Aquino The Rookies, Judge DK, McNeil, Hernandez RR, Mondesi Lime Green Parallels, Luis Robert RR, and Mike Trout All Stars. Another DK and two RR as well. Granted pretty decent for a retail pack.

Nice product. Fun opening after returning to the hobby after a 30-plus year break (thank you, COVID-19). Quick question. Is it possible to pull autos from retail blasters (i.e., Target) or are the only “hits” the five Prizms (two plus three pinks)?

Panini normally lists out all possible pulls on the back or side of the box. It shows multiple autograph sets for the Blasters.

opened 2 blasters and a mega box. 1 auto (effin josh james) no numbered parallels. really unhappy with the condition of these. bichette and mize parallels both chipped along edges with knicks on card surface.

I was in a box break FOTL and got 5 Autos and over 50 numbered cards. Pulled Auto of Jasson X/35. I guess that makes a difference.

i picked up a couple of Mega boxes to open with my kids but your 1,000% right that at $200 per box on the hobby side it is extremely over priced! That is on par with the pre-order price of Topps Chrome this year. The pricing overall on all products is NUTS right now!

I bought a few boxes of Optic last year at $80 a box and couldn’t make my money back so at $200 a box and no logos this product is insanely over priced. A hard pass on Optic this year

Yes there are Mega boxes – according to the Panini blog they will have Carolina Blue in Walmart and red wave in Target. 10 packs total with the two parallel bonus packs.
