2020 Bowman Platinum Baseball Cards – Checklist Added

My 1 star rating is being very gracious for this set of cards . Some of the colors do stand out nicely on a few random cards but the overall big picture on this specific set is that they are low – end foil rubbish and not worth wasting your money on . I don’t see any cards that are of any value now and most definitely will not be appreciating in the foreseeable future . I’m sure there are plenty of people that totally disagree with my opinion of these cards and I respect that but for me , all I see is cheesy foil cards . I will be saving my money for more respectable , quality cards . Who the neck are some of these so – called , top prospects anyway ? Jim

Product disappoints again in 2020. All pitchers, lame autos. Flippers buying up everything anyway. If you’re not at Walmart over 1.5 hours early your already 3rd in line. Some of the guys share, I just stopped going. I pulled a polished gem Eloy auto’d, every other auto, pitchers.

Trey are Dominguez and Puason SSP?? I have been able to collect both sets with the exception of the two above cards. I can’t get them in a pack whatsoever and do not want to keep getting more-these are expensive. While I’ve had some wonderful serial #’d hits including low #’d autos I’d like these last two to finish the set. Are they in the packs sir??

Very inconsistent on print quality

Bought a Mega and this will only my only box I’m buying. The design is okay, very muted colors even though there’s a shiny coat. Pulled no rookies and majority of the cards were pitchers. 1 of my 2 chartreuse cards has a messed up edge from manufacturer line. Hard pass and save your money for next year

Way to go Topps. I like these cards and the way they are being distributed. Topps has successfully taken money away from the Flippers. They will all be taking baths on their purchases and we can buy it at discounted prices.

I now give this a horrible rating, bought 12 boxes. And only have 70/100 for both sets and 50 dupes/triples. All packs are exactly the same minus the 3 inserts. Very displeased

If these were the chrome style platinum of yesteryear it would have been much nicer. I got a few boxes, b/c my las closed up and nowhere else to buy. I was somewhat happy with my autos. Got a nice on card alek manoah and a sticker of deievy García auto /99 and on the front of the card they spelled his name “Dem” don’t know if it’s a nickname or an error.

I came back to comment a 2nd time b/c today at my local Wal-Mart I found “hanger” style boxes with 24 cards for $21. That’s a “little” better entry point, but still.. the card design has already been lamented here. This product just took a drop off in 2020. At least we know what the difference is between the hangers/mega: the auto.. and Topps values that at $24 to collectors since there are basically the same # of cards in hanger/mega ($24 vs $45). I say that’s too much.. especially considering that you get two ice parallels and two serial numbered cards in the “hangers”. Still 3 stars at most. Disappointing.

I am not a huge collector but I like the look of these cards. Purchased what I assume is a hangar pack with 24 cards. One of the parallels I pulled is a Buster Posey but for the life of me I do not know what is different about this card other than the fact that it is numbered our of 299.

Would give it 2 stars at a $34.99 price point. Got a Matt Wallner auto, a Luzardo RC Chartreuse, and an Adley Rutschman Chartreuse. The Bart prospect base I guess is okay. At least one #’d card would have been nice. I’ll gladly sell my batch for 1/2 of what I paid. Maybe give my Acuna Jr./Alonzo bases to my 4 year old and call it a day.

Greg Miller nailed it. Too expensive of an entry point for a retail product. Not really an appealing combination of price point and product for set collectors or investors.

Topps does a better job than their competitors of tailoring products for their price point, but there are still some misses, like this,

I don’t think it’s melodramatic to say that in my 6 years of collecting across multiple sports, this is maybe the least interesting design I’ve ever seen. If collecting baseball cards is like collecting little 2.5×3.5 pieces of art, then Bowman Platinum is like collecting those prints of a basket of fruit that they have in the elevator of the local SpringHill Suites. The only reason I give it two stars rather than one is the guarantee of an auto in each megabox, but even then it’s not like the auto is numbered, obviously. Every $45 you don’t spend on this product could be put toward elective plastic surgery, or tacos. Save your money for something that will elicit at least a modicum of excitement.

Bowman Platinum, which normally releases during mid-late summer was pushed back to November this year. Walmart stores carry a Mega Box (23 cards, $45) and a Monster Box (100 cards, $80).
The Mega Box is a horrible deal but I took the bait anyways and got what I deserved. Trash in a box. Adam Kloffenstein and Antoine Kelly sticker autos. What’s that ? You’ve never heard of them ? Yeah, me either lol. The only redeemer for me was a Tatis Jr. Chartreuse parallel card. The product is clearly rushed, and as of 11/9 there is still no checklist available on CC even though the product has been officially out since 11/4.

I ordered when the listing was at $79.98 for the 100 card boxes. Today I received 2 of the 23 card boxes but yet was still charged $79.98/ea. Seems like quite the screw-up on Walmart’s part.

Anyone else see this product as trying to be something that it’s not? I mean, $45 for a box that’s got 10 base, 10 prospect base, two parallels and one auto? Am I off-base in saying that for a retail release the way this was packaged was unnecessarily expensive? The set collector in me would have appreciated a cheaper entry point via packs or traditional blaster. Then again, maybe I’m on an island here.
