2020 Bowman Draft Sapphire Edition Baseball continues the trend of online-exclusive products issued directly by the Topps store.

The boxes are first available as a pre-release for 2021 Topps 582 Montgomery Club members. It seems the public release went live on January 7, but it was gone in an instant.

This is the third iteration for 2020 Bowman Draft Baseball, joining 1st Edition and the primary Bowman Draft series.

If you look at the people that rated this set with only 1 star , 1 of the 1 star ratings is not being happy with the fact that kids cannot collect them , another 1 star rating doesn’t like the fact that there are no auto’s and the price doubled , the 3rd 1 star rating doesn’t like what the flippers are doing to the hobby which is 100 % correct if you read my opinion of this set . One thing about this set and all sapphire , wave , atomic refractor and ice cards is that the design is very distracting to the eye . To the baseball card purists , not having a visible baseball field in the background will more than likely keep these types of visually distracting card designs from appreciating to some grand amount just because of their relative scarcity .Everyone has their own opinions and that should be respected even if your opinion is different . I really like the sapphire cards personally but I don’t think that someone that doesn’t for whatever reason is necessarily wrong .

My rating of this product is before the flippers got a hold of them . From $70.00 A box to 440 – $500 A box . This should be declared as a form of piracy and the flippers should be strung up and whipped with a cat – o – nine tails until they beg for mercy and then they should be whipped some more . I will volunteer my services to do the whipping . Don’t buy from flippers and this flipping will end . Jim

Sorry, but whoever rated this set a “1” is dead wrong. This is a bonafide sleeper set, the cards are beautiful and set structure is simple, only numbered colors and NO goofy, worthless inserts.
The player checklist has TONS of upside, better than most drafts IMO.
Doing the math there seems to be about 4,600 of each base card, unnumbered of course, and it looks like a total production of “around” 32,500+/- boxes in total… pretty limited run.

“Last year, these sold for $35 per box. For 2020, the box price has doubled to $70.”

They doubled the price, yet they didn’t add autos and the quality control is probably still awful? This hobby has gone the way of hype clothing and it’s really sad.

Sadly it’s a fun set but greedy flippers are ruining it. The hobby downfall is close.
