2020 Bowman 1st Edition Baseball Cards

What quality control ? Topps hasn’t had any quality control in years . I don’t mean to be rude , just stating the fact . What was up with all the 2020 Topps Series 1 cards without a Topps logo ? Or the Nico Hoerner and Adbert Alzolay cards wearing purple jerseys instead of royal blue ? How about those lines in the glossy finish on the Bowman Chrome and now Topps Chrome as well ? The Topps Company doesn’t even know what quality control means let alone have a quality control system implemented in their China factory . Sorry to break the news to you .

Yet another set of garbage bowman paper cards with the bait being the Bowman Chrome 1st Bowman 1st Edition auto’s . The foil cards are the secondary bait to try to add a little more flair to the useless garbage paper cards that nobody wants .Typical Topps manipulation . Once again the flippers are at it with their price doubling shenanigans . It would not be that difficult to round up all the flippers and imprison them all under the enemy combatant of the United States of America baseball card collectors division and let them rot in prison with no lawyer , no phone call and absolutely no visitors either . I believe it’s just best to stay away from this specific product altogether . The only option thet I can think of to go after any of the Chrome auto parellel cards would be to cherry pick on EBay . That probably wouldn’t work though as I would not doubt that seller’s will probably want $1000 for a / 499 refractor auto . I hate to say it but it is starting to look like time to get out of the baseball card collecting hobby . The flippers will burn in a hot place when they pass and will deserve every degree of the scalding heat . Thanks again Topps for more manipulation of the card collecting general public . Jim

I actually enjoy this product despite the cost. One thing I am super curious about is where are the autos? I haven’t seen as many in population compared to 2020 Bowman Draft 1st edition. Any idea why?

Wow, Topps, I can’t believe the cards are that bad. I was going to buy some but the price from day 1 online till what there flogging for now is a 100% mark up. Cards are getting so expensive! I stopped getting Panini (such crap). Well with the exception of some, as I can’t afford to buy high-end stuff. Oh well, I guess I will stick to buying my auto and game-used HOF guys. At least there is some value and you know what you’re getting…sigh!!!

Terrible with Topps again. I missed the firsts two days of release not because I wasn’t there, rather the site was not letting me sign in. I tried multiple times through out the day and it would either not let me sign in or it would not even get me to the pack page to place the order. First day I finally got signed in at 9:26PM EST and they were sold out. second day I finally got on about 4:30 and same thing-sold out after trying non stop all afternoon. I contacted Topps after the first day and they said not their fault try the next couple days. Third day I was there the whole after noon and it was sold out/not available the whole day-never saw anything where they were available after that. Of course they get them out to the major distributors. I learned my lesson last year with Topps Total and didn’t get in to that screw up. Learned my lesson on these. Don’t bother with these. Let Topps kill themselves off with not allowing people who have been loyal for 45 years get product when they have releases at the price they were intended for so the distributors can get theirs cheap and charge double.

Thankfully I never jumped on this product when it released. 1) $650 box average for PAPER COLOR and/or 1/319 SMUDGED base chrome auto’s? AYFN kidding me?! This product was 100% rushed to market due to everyone having to stay at home for COVID. Bowman is the only product in years past that’s saved Topps from being UD or Fleer. This rushed, CRAP release should have EVERYONE filing a complaint with TOPPS and have their doors’ closed!!! I’m embarrassed and I haven’t even purchased this garbage!!

Received a deplorably smudged auto of in my direct order from the manufacturer. I am not the only one getting a smudged auto based on social media postings of other cards in this product segment. Unacceptable quality control by Topps and cannot believe QC approved this to go out to customers. Requested more information on 5/5/2020 and I’ve received zero communication so far besides a reference number to my case.

$30 a pack on eBay for a no name rookie auto that’s $3 after having to open 25 packs worth. Morons who put this out, morons who continue to buy wishing for one card you’ll never get

Massively overpriced for what you get. A little different background and a few other minor changes from the typical Bowman. Autos at one per 300 plus for $500 plus, with an auto checklist that will have many $5.00 auto’s. Plus the difficulty in being able to purchase. There has to be some back door stuff going on for some to have cases of this product. Topps did NOT WANT THE REGULAR COLLECTOR TO HAVE THIS PRODUCT, they think they will get free advertisement with all the complaining buzz. Typical Topps, this is the fault of the idiots who made Topps the only licensed manufacturer.

3 boxes so far. Okay collation by Topps. 2 boxes had 1 Dominguez, other had 2. 1 auto so far, Jordan Yamamoto, and it was smudged. Best color was Orange Ronny Maurico. Have 1 more to open. Bought all boxes secondary market, $700+ each box.

This is the Biggest ripoff i have ever seen in Sports cards, Its crap like this that makes people walk away. the way retail companies push a product for profit as they did with this is disgraceful, they should be ashamed.

As soon as these sold out on the Topps website, distributors and breakers immediately doubled the price…. price gouging at it’s finest! Plus the poor quality control is evident on this “rushed” product… every autograph pulled to date has been smudged badly. Big waste of money.

Was “lucky” enough to secure 8 packs on day 2. Just opened them all … 1 and I repeat 1 #d card in 8 packs…blue no name / 150. No autos, 1 #d card, 3 sky blues … consider yourself lucky for not blowing $$ on this trash.

This is pure trash. Topps hasn’t had an original idea in years, time for a new license for UD.

The guy selling 144 packs on eBay for $7,200 though. All the eBay resellers with listings containing over 24 packs, how’d that happen Topps? Makes you wonder how they completed their orders. Used a different address? Created different log in and passwords? Good policing on your part Topps. Why even do a limit? Why do a limited time? Why only three days? All this said, I’m still waiting on redemptions from Panini America from over five years ago. Both companies are a joke and Topps should lose their exclusive MLB license.

Continue to be disappointed with Topps. I am a Montgomery member. Paid about $290 as an annual fee. I think Montgomery folks should be guaranteed few packs at the regular price. Not trying to be a scammer and resell them. I was also online getting a 500 error, being kicked out. Topps ..this is total BS. What am I missing?

Lucky to get 24 packs…what would you do? Sell them all…easy double money or open and hope for a big hit???

For some people they are busy during that time frame. I ended up with a headache and no packs. If you have time to click the site 100 times you get the packs but it shouldn’t be like that. Topps should be ready or they should develop a lottery system to prevent overload.

This is normal operating procedure for Topps!!! It stinks…I actually logged on before the 4-5 sale time and kept trying to buy these packs for HOURS. I kept getting all kinds of Technical Difficulties, High Volume, Site Temporarily Down, etc., etc.,! Finally, the old SORRY we are SOLD OUT!! It was Total B.S. the way this was set up. I buy a LOT of their stuff on-line, I am NOT a Dealer just a collector and am really P.O.’d, especially seeing what these a******s are selling this product for now!! I won’t buy any of them…..EVERYONE DO NOT BUY FROM THESE TOPPS PUPPETS on eBay!! I hope they get stuck with them and they turn out to be a Complete FAILURE!!

This was a good idea until after two days of trying all the packs are going to flippers on eBay. Topps doesn’t care about the collector who has kept them in business until this point. Shame on you!

ha. Just like panini. the hobby has turned into how much can i resell on ebay. i collect for the fun. Seems like alot of people only care about the profit they can get. Some guy complaining elsewhere he bought 7 grand of tribute and got only 1 grand of resellable cards. sniff. sniff.

TOPPS WEBSITE IS A P.O.S !!! Since Day 1 >> tried for 2 days I couldn’t even get to the home page 3/4 of the time with out getting error messages. Maybe LISTEN to customers and FIX the F’N thing !!!

I literally tried my hardest. Refreshed constantly for hours once they showed up they would sat just missed! Or they would disappear and then few mins later would show up again and same thing. Did the same the last 2 days. Topps is a joke! I complained and sent them an email and I did get s response saying they would try to fix it so they did have the same problem for April 24 or april 24 BOY DID THEY LIE. only way now to get them is buying off of people on ebay who have NO INTEREST in cracking packs they are only in it purely for profit. I ordered a few packs yesterday at 7:30, refresh, refresh refresh. Got on today just to see if I could, ordered 4 more, refresh,refresh refresh.

They are still available right now. I just checked out. I had to refresh several times to get through each page but it wasn’t impossible to get through and not nearly as difficult as buying on several other sites I have dealt with in the past. A little patience goes a long way considering there are a lot of people trying to purchase.

Um…for a $15 for 10 card product, I don’t think the checklist is that good. A lot of guys with a bunch of cards, which is ok for a $4 a pack product that contains chrome cards, but not this. Read the checklist and see for yourself.

So many good responses. Tried dozens of times to get a lousy pack and no dice. Not sure how you can prove bots were or were not a factor but these dummies just looking to resell are annoying and I’d like to pop them. I’m thinking topps website is simply garbage. This dude in here talking about depression, say the following like Jeff Foxworthy. If youre talking about depression on cardboardconnection, ya probly aint actually depressed.

I wanted to buy 4 packs because me and my fiance love the excitement and fun of cracking packs. So I was trying to purchase them for the right purpose. Yet ebay is loaded with all the people who dont know what to do with their money. So they buy up all the product just so they can make more money which they probably have plenty of. Instead of taking the fun away from us expspecially during this world pandemic. Donate some of that money instead of just trying to help yourself and your pockets. Hobby will never grow if this keeps happening. Then there will be NO HOBBY so who will buy the cards and packs off these people to sell to.

Topps sucks! Same problem as us average Joe’s. I couldn’t add packs to my cart unless I was logged in. It took me about 2 hours to be able to log in somewhere around 7 or 8 p.m. then kept giving me problems checking out. Kept trying then it said sold out. Why say you are selling something for 3 days and put limits on the amount u can get. And then somehow all the people who only buy certain products just to put more money in their pocket. Topps has been pissing people off and more and more people I notice are leaving the hobby. This is not how you grow or fix the hobbies problem. Might have to switch sports and go to panini!

I was able to get in and order at 4:05pm (15 packs) after refreshing for 4 hours lol. I was on a work Zoom call so I had the time. I tried different payment methods and it finally let me. I actually only tried to order 2 packs, but the order processed 15 (probably because I kept tapping “add to cart” hoping to make something happen). They should really do a lottery for product like this.

Everybody is saying these sold out instantly…..that is a lie. They were on the site for well over 2 hours. Bots did not do a SINGLE THING for this drop. 99.99% of packs purchased were purchased manually. It took me over 2 hours to get through due to server load, but you know what? I managed to get through. Because I wanted the cards badly enough that I didn’t let server issues stop me, I kept trying.

Everybody complaining about how they “couldn’t get these” just didn’t try hard enough or for long enough. These weren’t some super limited release, they put out TONS. Don’t blame the resellers because they are persistent, rather take it in your own hands to secure the product when it drops (just like resellers do) instead of just giving up.

Was able to personally get some ordered, but certainly understand the frustration because the process is ludicrous. Topps does not make it easy for the average customer to get through, yet publicly advertises the release. Recipe for disaster, but breakers and bots will still take advantage of course. Just a bad look overall, quickly becoming just like the sneaker market

I tried the whole damn hour of 3-4pm CST and kept getting that internal error not even letting me log in. I would have tried before then if i would have known. Why post a certain time frame if they aren’t going to follow it???

I usually don’t buy from Topps.com and wanted to try for this but I am sure as hell won’t after this.

Once again Topps fails! But why would they care they made there money ! Here is food for thought …it’s a pandemic, I got my 5 year old home , can’t go to school, can’t start little league, cant see his friends, can’t take him to a game. Actually just like most of us fighting depression. Something he was looking forward to was these cards. For a 2nd take away the collectibility… a 5 year old boy just wanted some new baseball cards …. not going to happen…. but hey Topps made there money so whatever !

Very disappointing Topps !! Shame on you, you aren’t here for the ordinary customer. Now instead of everyone having a chance to purchase the product for there own personal collection, the breakers and resellers win again. Maybe some thought should of came in considering the Pandemic and everyone quarantined and allowed maybe 5 packs a customer? Just sad, don’t know if I will purchase anything from the Topps site in the future..

Well, after hours of constant refreshing, it appears my order went through. It ended up being more than I wanted since it seemed to keep adding packs each time I tried to add to the cart but thought I was failing. I didn’t dare try to change the order number after it finally allowed me into my cart for fear of losing it, though. All I can say is if you really want some, keep refreshing and trying to push through. It does seem to be that the bots have overloaded the Topps server which they should really find a way to deal with. I’ve amended my rating, but still docking points for the insanely frustrating process.

I am usually a glass half full kind of guy, but i find myself trying not to be so cynical writing this..IF Topps didnt want BOTS to buy everything, they would of stopped it. If they truly only wanted 24 packs per customer, they would of anticipated the server volume and planned for it. If they didnt want to release before their scheduled time, they wouldnt of. But here we are, complaining about spending our hard earned cash during a pandemic that has put the country in a depression…now that part is crazy. Think about that for a minute….

And now the packs are listed for hundreds of dollars on eBay already…many from brand new accounts. This is all such BS.

What an absolute joke Topps! Group breakers and hoarders are completely destroying this beloved hobby. No end in sight. It’s so unfortunate.

Topps site has been blocking me from logging in and purchasing since 1pm PST. I have a video recording of my screen as proof. I wonder if the resellers/dealers had this issue or if it was just the regular customers?
