Can’t find any retail so I have opened very little. But same deal as Series 1 … rounded corners on every card.

I pulled 2 french young guns from a retail tin. There were zero regular young guns in the tin. I thought you couldn’t pull french varients from retail.

A clarification on my last message…it’s a 24 pack count in the retail box, not 48 packs.

BEWARE of the 48 pack Series 2 retail boxes. Upper Deck has pulled a fast one on this product. I recently purchased 2 boxes @ $120.00 CDN per box and was shocked to only pull 1 Young Gun out of my first box…when it was a repeat on the second box, I looked at the odds published on the side of the box and discovered that in the 48 pack retail boxes, the odds of pulling a Young Gun was only 1:48 packs. This compares to Young Guns being inserted into blaster boxes at 1:4 packs. In past years, the 48 pack retail boxes have always had 6 Young gun cards inserted. SHAME on you Upper Deck for pulling a fast one on your customers!!!

bad quality, overpriced, miscuts, some cards even missing the number of cards in it, too much base. Many packs of 8 you will get all base or just 1 insert or rookie. Open a pack of NBA (which is more popular) you get 1 insert and 2 rookies out of 8 cards. And too many filler players in UD and inserts when you compare to basketball. And many of the young guns are mid-20 guns that don’t play much or play at all in the NHL.

What a year it has been with Upper Deck Quality Control, Epack Controversy, COMC crazy prices and paying way more for a product because of a pandemic year. I purchased a case of Series Two and on a normal year would have been happy but this year dished out an extra 1000 dollars. Fortunately, my local card store in Ottawa is a new owner and I looked at it as giving him a 1000 dollar bonus for a crazy year. It remains to be seen what the price will be next year but now we have a Series 3 coming out. Something else I noticed today was my Josh Norris Flourescence does not fit in a “One Touch” magnet holder.

When does retail hit shelves?

Was able to get a box at a decent price. Young Guns were in decent shape. The rest of the box was cut horrible on backs,
Newbies and Gamblers this was and still is a $85 box of cards. No value has been added. DON’T PAY DOUBLE FOR THE SAME STUFF IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN. Young guns or not you are hurting your wallet and everyone elses. It is your choice. Next will be the $60,000 compact car and the $50 Draft beer. Just stupid.

Is the Stutzle card (Fluorescence Gold) considered an error card? It is Spelled STUETZLE. Is it worth more because of this?

No wonder early 90’s wax is popular again. One can get the same value out of a $5 box of 1990 Score as they can out of a $200 box of this!!

Opened my first box of series 2 yesterday and the first Young Gun I came across was a Kaprizov Clear Cut. I’m pretty happy so far.

All I’m going to say is part of me will enjoy watching the pandemic card bubble burst which will allow me to not be forced to take a second mortgage to continue to collect. It will be so nice actually being able to walk into a store to buy cards and actually have product on the shelves.

I just opened a box of series two….not bad not great. But my question is the Auston Matthews base card (High Gloss parallel) that is shown above is different than the base card I pulled. Different picture and different jersey. The picture above is him skating with blue jersey….the one I have is him celebrating a goal with white jersey.
Any reason Trey ?

Trey, I pulled a Drew Doughty Fanimation card from a case I opened.

I have been collecting since 1990. I have not been this let down before. The box I got only had 5 YG. Usually when that happens you have some kind of kick butt insert in its place. Im still upset. No 6th YG. No Exclusive, YG canvas, nothing. This happened to me last year but in that box I pulled a patch /25. So it evened out. This year I’m really annoyed. I had a serious BUST. This is the first time I’ve felt compelled to pen my frustration on the web.

That ovechkin miscut I actually like that nice colored border but overall thats a bunch of crap good to see UD still just winging it

Hey Speed Demon, in case you didn’t know, Bowen Byram Young Guns was in series 1, just saying…

Always look forward to Series 2 but seeing the YG checklist is a lot of older/barely NHLers is frustrating.

I have to agree with a lot of the comments here. I’m sure many of us enjoy the hobby for the reason of it being a “hobby”. What’s gone on over the past year is absolutely insane. The price of product is driving many people back out of the hobby and rightfully so. I get supply and demand but distributors are fully taking advantage of everyone. One might say that they’re a business and as long as people are willing to pay, then they can keep raising prices. I get that. But at the same time they should be thrilled in knowing that they can fully sell everything they produce and should be thankful for that and be respectful as well. I enjoy opening product with my kids and seeing their excitement. Now I can’t justify paying close to $200 for a hobby box. The odds of recouping a fraction of that is gone and the entertainment factor can’t even justify spending that amount. You’re better off to wait and buy the few cards you may want and leave it at that. If you look at the amount of cards printed each year, most people are chasing less than 1% of the cards as that is all that ends up carrying any value. Sad to say, but I’m sure the trends will continue for now in upcoming releases. Take care!

Young Guns checklist is awful!! I checked them all one by one, full of 23-25 years old undrafted or late rounds AHL players without a single NHL game experience who will never play in the NHL…Yes, there is like 4 top rookies, 8 or 9 others from good to not too bad but the rest is terrible! Quality control will probably be as bad as usual!! Upper Deck is still laughing at the consumers but people continue to buy their overpriced products like crazy!! Stop buying Upper Deck products!!! Boycott them, maybe it would make them do higher quality products…I say that but I know it will never happen because many people in hobby have nothing else in their life besides showing off their goods cards to get some attention and feel a little better for a short time…it’s sad…

I think Zach hit it right on. Watching the prices climb and climb is ridiculous. This is driven by the distributors for a product that will have an e-pack release a few weeks after release day driving the value of regular Young Guns to the level of $1-$2 on COMC.

I see group break listings for available products and see absolutely no value in the breaks at the price charged per spot…you just won’t get your money back for the vast, vast majority of the spots.

What is the saying, “a fool and his money are soon parted”. I’m not very bright although certainly no fool. I’ll continue to cherry pick cards on COMC and eBay.

I always look forward to getting new guys in their new uniforms, and this is the set that my son and I look most forward to. What a joke. The laziness shown in creating this set with players who are no longer on the team or in some cases no longer in the league is unforgivable. Come on Upper Deck, put in a little bit of effort for your loyal customers.

Byfield hasn’t even played a game in the NHL so there is no way that he’s going to be in this season’s product. I fully expect him to get a Young Gun in 2021-22 Series 1.

Alright here we go boys, hockey product starting to slither up. $150 presale? 401 games was $110, then pushed up to 125, then to 150, and now it’s $175 a box. Still gotta pay taxes, will be a tough rip. Hopefully none of you will have to pay that much a box. I see C&C has it for $150. Crazy times. The presale of the big boys are going well, but can they substain? History says no. I get inflation, but this is just straight up greed. Make sure you guys don’t get caught with you know what in your hand.

Whish I could give 0 Stars. Pulled Kravtsov Young guns Exclusives with back of card so crooked, had to refund buyer. Clear cut young guns with corner chipped. Lafreniere rookie with corner damage. Not too mention most cards are so badly cut, the cutting knife must have been dull. Sadly Series 2 will probably be the same.

I gave it two stars because of the lack of any quality control. While I like the YG checklist odds are mine will be damaged as with series 1. Series 1 was awful with defects and damage and the whole process of replacements is a gigantic headache and to me a waste of time. Nothing has changed as subsequent products have had issues as well.

Heinola was a Young Gun last year.

More excited for Series 2 than Series 1 mostly because of Kaprizov, Rossi?, Zegras, Cozens, Sorokin, Stutzle, Byfield?, Heinola?

Yeah, Brad. Stuetzle for sure, Cozens is likely also. Not sure about Byfield though, he looks like he needs more time before he plays in the NHL. You’ll probably see Kirill Kaprizov, Illya sorokin (highly touted goalie) and maybe Heinola.

I’m very curious to see if Winnipeg adds Ville Heinola to their roster as he was doing good in Liiga.

The quality control was definitely something of an issue for UpperDeck in Series 1.

I’m really hoping Dylan Cozens of the Buffalo Sabres is in series 2, I think he’s going to be a star in the NHL very soon. Series 2 will probably be loaded… Steutzle, Byfield, Cozens, Zegras?

I assume NHL ready players like Stuetztle, Lundell (maybe), and Raymond will be in this rookie crop. Assuming these guys play a few games.
