2020-21 Panini Prizm Basketball Cards

Panini has become a joke in the industry! I spent $2000 for a First Off The Line box. I received about $300 worth of cards, no auto, and one Gold Shimmer #’d/10. To try and salvage my investment, I sent 6 cards to Beckett for grading. They ALL cam back as 8’s and 8’s, including the gold shimmer.

Panini is just trying to release as many boxes every week, as they can, with no regard to quality!

Above average product. Cards were in great condition. Lots or prizms and rookies

Worst quality control I have ever seen. Thank God Fanatics is taking over this hobby soon. Panini got greedy. Don’t buy these cards ungraded on Ebay unless you are okay with poor centering and surface scratches.

Panini, give us our money back.

These prices are absolutely disgusting. My favorite hobby, one I’ve been consistently a part of for well over 30 years, has had all the joy it used to bring me completely taken away. It’s funny to see about every 5th or 6th comment on here, the people just lying to themselves and everyone else about how this is still a good product

It’s been painfully obvious for awhile now that Panini is ONLY looking for short term cash grabs. As stated above; the 2020-21 Draft Class doesn’t even come close to matching up with last year’s. ROI wasn’t even there when it was reasonably priced. Don’t be a fool and participate in breaks either. I can’t imagine those who keep track of the breaks they’ve bought into have come out in the black. I bet most don’t even record how much they’ve spent giving talentless break channels money to open packs for them. It conceptually seems like kids who watch youtube vids of people playing video games instead of playing the video game.

At around $1900 USD a box right now, you would need to hit a ton of good cards to think about breaking even. The “big 3” prices currently on ebay at April 11th. LaMelo base- $200, Wiseman $40-50 and Ant Edwards- $80-90. You would need to hit all three of the top rookies plus a Ball silver or some sort of numbered top rookie to recoup, goodluck to any of the suckers who ripped this. Singles is the way to go. How anyone can say this holds values, is either a Panini rep or on some sort of whacky substance.

Just a pandemic. Health care worker who enjoys the hobby. Now I can’t afford to buy anything significant. This is now a luxury hobby for the rich and NBA stars who can afford it.

Great looking cards, but impossibly priced. Hobby boxes are introduced at 6x price of last year’s hobby box. 90% OF THE CARDS ARE OFF CENTER!!!! A great buy at retail prices, but you can’t get that anymore. Otherwise a total rip off!!! Panini is obviously cutting corners on quality while raising prices astronomically!!! A dangerous mix!!!

Excellent Product, always holds value

This has to be one of the ugliest and overpriced sets of cards I’ve ever seen. Feel bad for the poor saps getting $200 worth of cards for $2k. None of the high end cards/players are even centered. Lamelo and Edwards cards look like one eyed Joe centered and cut them. I’d be asking for my money back if I pulled one of these. Seriously look them up on Ebay. How can a company ask for 2k and not even ensure top players cards are centered? Most likely moving them out the back door to fetch a premium on secondary market. Sad!

take 4 years for redemption, pricey product, turn hobby into gambling, bad customer service…..can we start a campaign to boycott panini?

Can someone please tell me why Panini insults hobbyists with exorbitant prices for a sub-mediocre product? First, despite charging $2k plus, 90 percent of the cards are horribly off centered. Second, compare rookie stats to last year’s rookies and you’ll quickly see this is a scam. All of their numbers are awful, with the exception of Lamelo who is already injures. Anthony Edwards fails to be consistent. James Wiseman is lucky if he scores 10 points a game. Third, the images chosen for players, with the exception of the James tribute dunk are abhorrently awful. So tell me why are people paying these laughable prices? Come on people, you’re being taken for a ride! Do the research on basic stats for rookies and you’ll quickly realize Panini is milking your pocketbook!

Can’t fathom this crap hobby product is selling for $2500 per box. Only two overhyped hits worth any value at all are the miniature flying Lebron and the crap photo of half season, underperforming, “injured” Lamelo. Most cards are anything but centered. Save your money and buy the two singles on ebay for less than half the price of a crap hobby sticker auto product.

The price point for hobby is beyond absurd, let alone 4x secondary market pricing for retail. The rookie class isn’t even that impressive. I spent a decent amount of money on $400 hobby boxes last year and that was with Zion and Ja. Even then I felt like the product was overpriced. And felt like it was hard to meet my return on investment. I’m only buying secondary market. I’ll likely be able to cop a Lamelo silver for less than a hobby box in another month. Advice: don’t buy into the hype scam!

This is still no better than when you were not buying this product. Please dont buy into the hype. Most of you will lose money, lots of money on this product only a few will profit ( maybe) Panini has turned the hobby into the worst kind of gambling to where its almost no fun. Kids can no longer buy cards. Let this set go or wait for the left over cards or buy individually. It will be cheaper to buy the card you want VS buying a box or case.

Panini how the hell you going to charge 2000 a box and no KOBE or JORDAN in the entire product??? NEXT!!!

Just watched a guy rip a box. Cost a little over $2,000 and if he sells everything he might only lose $1,750. WoW Best color prizm was Carmelo Anthony. Grateful that I didn’t buy any of this product.

And just like that Panini might have ended the very craze they started. Sad sad money grubbing set.

Cards look great but I will avoid this product simply not worth $229.00 a pack at our local. I could afford to pay that but refuse to do so. If I no longer buy basketball, it was fun while it lasted.

Buy and hold. Retail only. If not able to get it, there will be next year. Not a must have, that’s for certain.

Well the hoodie wearing former Molly dealing mopes who case Targets and WalMarts will be happy for this product cause off all the retail that never will hit retail or actually go for retail. Think I am kidding? Go to your LCC in bigger cities and watch them work their magic. Disgusting all way around actually. I dont know how much “hobby” the LCCs actually can sell but it way overinflates the blasters and various packaging options and THAT is where they are making the real money.

This isn’t capitalism but a modern-day monopoly from a single robber baron. The exclusive contracts are part of what has fueled this outrageous outcome, along with the pandemic forcing people to find alternative means of income.

I’ve always been surprised to see Prizm gain a foothold in the hobby like it has. I remember buying packs of this at Target back when it came out and just finding it to be a lackluster concept. Seemed too tacky. But I guess it is here to stay.

Lucked into a blaster of football at retail last year and didn’t even get close to making my $19.95 back. I couldn’t fathom spending thousands on the low, low chance of getting a low #’d parallel (in top condition no less) of a likely over-hyped rookie. So much has to go right to even come close to recouping some value.

I hate capitalism.

That’s the problem, LaMelo, this used to be my Hobby. Never has it crossed my mind, “lets go get this money”. What is the actual MSRP? Everyone wants to hate on Panini and Topps.

Does anyone know exactly how much the MSRP’s have increased over the past 12 months?

Over $2000 for a Hobby box that should cost around $300? Ridiculous! In my most recent experience the Panini’s Prizm Parallels most always have some kind of manufacture defect ie, lint under the overlay or dings
