The turtles are finally back in action as the TMNT franchise makes its triumphant return to cardboard in 2019 Topps Art of TMNT Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
The fighting turtles—Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo and Raphael—already have a history with Topps, and collectors may remember some earlier TMNT card sets, especially from the 1980s and 1990s. However, this marks a new chapter between Topps and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
According to Topps, this is the first set under their new trading card deal with Viacom Nickelodeon Consumer Products.
2019 Topps Art of TMNT Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Set Details
Many fans likely recall the cartoon show and live-action films, but TMNT got its start as a Mirage Studios comic book in 1984. Focusing on comic artwork, 2019 Topps Art of TMNT Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles also offers new images for the series.
The 100-card base set comes on 96-point card stock and is split between 73 earlier comic covers and 27 new artwork images. Jim Lawson, Kevin Eastman, Michael Dooney and Steve Lavigne are among the featured illustrators. Base parallels include Green (#/99), Purple (#/50), Orange (#/25), Blue (#/10), and Red (1/1) versions.
2019 Topps Art of TMNT Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Hits
Premium options for 2019 Topps Art of TMNT arrive as sketch cards and autographs. The Artist Autograph cards are hard-signed on the back and fall one per Hobby box. These also have the same numbered parallels as the base set.
Sketch cards come one per box, as well. Possible options consist of standard sketches, shaped sketch cards and panoramic sketch cards. There are also rare sketch cards from the original TMNT artists.

Very nice, high quality set. Only 5,000 base sets is a plus. With the numbered cards being on the edges, they lend themselves to some damage.
