2019 Topps Heritage High Number Baseball Cards

WTH Topps? I had purchased 3 hanger boxes from Target in the fall and when I finally got around to opening them up, TWO of them had the SAME EXACT cards except for the inserts! EXACT! The other hanger box also contained several of the same cards. Why does the collation department for Topps suck so bad?? I love the Heritage product, but man that is disheartening to people who like to collect whole sets!

Love this product. I have for a few years now. Good ol’ Topps throwback design, obviously solid rookie crop of 2019, great looking SP parallels… really not a whole lot to hate on, here.

I paid $115 at my LCS. I got every rc available, 1 chrome, 1 N.Eovaldi Jersey piece, 1 action and a few sp’s. Dont waste your $. Awful product

I’d say this product is totaly worth it in the long run and even now with the big 4 in it, it’s a great product. Yes everyone is complaining about alverez not being in it and Shane on 2011 heritage high number. It’s did not exist until 2012 when Topps released it as a complete set and not until 2015 heritage high number became a product you could buy packs of. But I personally like the rookies with 2 or 3 guys like the old days. And heritage high number is good for guys who didn’t get called up until later. 2019 heritage high number love it.

Nice cards, but like always I get the cheap relic. I’ve never pulled a Heritage MLB auto of al the hobby boxes I’ve purchased over the years. Always the garbage relic.

Love the throwback design, and lots of big rookies. Question, though. Are the black bordered parallels actually numbered (not the chrome versions)? I got one but can’t find a number anywhere!

I happen to like the design. Great box I happened to have gotten a hot box? Awesomeness!!!!!!

I like the classic lines of Heritage, however it’s not worth paying a premium of 100/hobby box that’s for sure. I’ll wait until the price is more reasonable since there’s more than enough supply to go around.

I’d like to see cards of guy that played in 1970, but were not in the original 1970 Topps set… Steve Garvey, Jim Bouton, Bert Blyleven, etc.

it would be even better if the Heritage set stopped at #720 and these cards started at #721.

Come Jeff, Have you ever heard of Topps Now. Topps wanted to hold Alvarez to promote its 2020 sets. This stinks in effect that even though Vlad and Alvarez both came up about the same time, one players gets a card this year and the other is doesn’t. What will be worse next year is that Jordan Alvarez will on those 2 player rookie cards. This stinks. Alvarez will not get his own individual heritage card until 2021. That stinks.

I have noticed that some of the autograph cards like Kaline, Gibson, Ryan and Yastrzemski for example in this set are the same ones that are in the first set of 2019 Heritage cards. Of course it has always been my opinion that the autograph cards should only be players that actually played in 1970 or what ever year is being featured, not today’s “stars” who weren’t even born yet. I’m sure there are lots of deserving old-timer’s that fans would love to have an autographed card of. Get a clue Topps and put a crowbar in your wallet!

For those complaining about being missing certain players – for one, they have always held back some rookies. And second, there is a lead time believe it or not to produce these – it isn’t instantaneous. As far as Tigers being missing – well when the team and others play up to getting cards then you will get cards. I say this as a Dolphin fan whose team has underachieved for most of my life

I’m not a collector, so I don’t know all of the esoteric nuances of collecting, especially runs like Heritage. But from a consumer stand point, I don’t see why anyone would buy these cards. They’re ugly. Drab, plain, and maybe I’m flat wrong from an investment perspective, but I’ve never liked cards from retired players who need some cash. I don’t want a 2019 gold covered commemorative reprint of an 1894 silver dollar, I want the 1894 silver dollar. I hate pulling a card of someone from 20 years ago. It’s lame.
But the main thing is the framing color reminds me of a boring office job with dividers and everyone wearing ho hum clothes. Ugly.

Uhh will Alvarez not be in Update?

Another observation about this set is that it’s a pretty good indication of players who will be in the flagship traded/update set, with maybe an occasional surprise.

Ridiculous. The 2020 year will not be Alvarez’s rookie year, by any calculation. He’s going to play most of this season and could be the MVP of the World Series–without a Topps RC for fans to collect. I fully realize Topps Inc. is a business. But Topps execs have to show more understanding of how and when the sport is played and how its fans interact with the sport and its players. Alvarez is setting rookie records in 2019, not 2020. He is making huge contributions right now to the potential 2019 champions, not to the 2020 champions. This is his full rookie year, not next year. If a guy is called up in August or September, sure–he will not have even played half a season. But for guys like Alvarez and Senzel and Riley, who have played consistently since well before the All-Star break, they need RCs in late products, period.

Mike Trout and Jose Altuve do not have true Heritage RCs, and that isn’t good for Topps or for the Heritage brand or for the hobby. Just imagine if Trout had a 2011 Heritage High RC to complement his 2011 Update RC. Both cards would be iconic, not just the Update card. Topps missed an opportunity there. But at least in the cases of those two players you could argue that they debuted too late in the 2011 season to appear in 2011 Heritage High. With Alvarez there is no excuse. Topps is *deliberately* skipping and missing the opportunity. They are depriving fans of a player’s rookie card during a long rookie season and only because they hope that doing so will coerce those fans to buy more product the next year. That’s terrible policy. But why should we be surprised? This is what happens in monopolies: Company over customer. I for one will not be buying 2020 Topps Series 1.

How could Topps miss the first RC of Yordan Alvarez? Bo Bichette and Aristedes Aquino, I can understand, given how recently they debuted. But Alvarez has been up for awhile, like Austin Riley and Nick Senzel, who did not make it into Series 1 or 2 but appear here in Heritage High. Alvarez may turn out to be the most noticeable of these great rookies this year, especially if the Astros once again make a deep run in the playoffs. Yet he will now not have a Heritage card until next year, which will not be a true rookie season. That’s ridiculous. Can’t help but think that Topps is deliberately holding back Alvarez’s Heritage rookie to make the Update set even more attractive. Good for Topps and their bottom line, disappointing for fans and collectors.

topps has gotten very lazy by putting team mates next to each other in this set. as far as short prints go 25 is ok, hopefully topps will shrink series 1 to 50 short print cards. or better yet do 3 series with first 2 series at about 250 cards & the 3rd with the balance like used to do from 1972 on back still keeping 25 short prints per series.

Al Kaline autograph again? He was in the first series. Guess Topps couldn’t find a single retired Tiger player like maybe Mickey Lolich, Willie Horton, Mickey Stanley or John Hiller to sign, eh? And the usual two Oakland A’s Rollie Fingers and Reggie Jackson, but of course there will only be about 10 or less of Reggie’s card. I guess Sal Bando, Vida Blue or John “Blue Moon” Odom weren’t available either…Topps gets lamer and lamer.

I just wish they would expand the # of SPs to 50 so that it matches the ratios of Series 1 (400 + 100 vs 200 +50). Would help the values of Series II SPs hold

The heritage set is the best they combine old school & new tech an its a 10/10 home run hit keep it up topps an give upper deck some pointers lol
