Product Details

User Rating:

A little icing on the cake for flagship MLB collectors, the 2019 Topps Baseball Silver Pack promotion offers exclusive 1984 Chrome cards in exchange for making Hobby or Hobby Jumbo box purchases.

While it is always good to confirm with your local shop or online retailer before you buy, the 2019 Topps Series 1 Baseball promo awards one pack for each Hobby box and two packs for every Jumbo box purchase. The same promotion also applies to Series 2 and Update Series.

Many may recall that the 2018 Silver Pack promo covered 1983 with a similar offering.

They look nice, especially under the various color formats they could also come in. However, it’s a rather big letdown that Topps had decided to keep the promo ad backs. It really shouldn’t have been hard to simply use the same backs that were created for each of the individual players from the base 1984 insert set. But nope, they had to go this route instead, which makes them a little less appealing that they could have been. Knocks a point down in my book.

Bought a case of Jumbo and only got one per box. I thought this was supposed to be two per jumbo? I’ve seen this also on breaks, what gives?

It’s likely a mistake. I suggest you reach out to Topps.

Canseco is the only Oakland Athletic listed in the update set.

Just realized this is for the Promo Silver Packs & not the standard 2019 Topps cards. I can see why players are limited for each team now from this checklist. Thanks again.

rob, I think the reply by Brian just before yours is referring to A’s players in the Update Series. However, there should be other players that needed to be added from the A’s for the 2019 Update Series or place the vets listed below in either Series 1 or 2.

Laureano (RC) is in Series 1. McGwire is in Series 1. Martini (RC) is in Series 2. Kris Davis is in Series 2. Canseco is the only A’s player in the Update Series. That’s a total of 5 A’s players but 2 are retired players.

Topps should have more than 3 current players for 2019 to pull from the A’s. Players like Chapman, Olson, Semien, Canha, & Hendriks should have had base cards made for 2019 as well. I see no need for either Canseco or McGwire base cards to be produced anymore. Thanks.

How are these ALREADY on ebay?

A little heavy on the Yankees, but I get it-Yankees sell. Wondering if they are spreading out Ohtani/Soto/Acuna/Torres.

Also – there are about 5 Tigers fans left, so if you’re looking for Tigers commemorative stuff, try their stadium. As a White Sox fan, I’m not complaining every year that there’s no Mark Buerhle stuff on the XX’th anniversary of their WS. I understand that I am one of 5 people that might find that valuable. If I pull any old Tigers players from the 80s to current time, I would be sadly disappointed. Gimme all the Yankees…and I’ll sell them and buy a cool Buerhle item.

Brian
Brian

Once again not a single Detroit Tiger in the bunch, not even the latest Tiger HOFer’s Jack Morris or Alan Trammell who won it all in ’84. Pathetic, Topps. Oh well saves me some money!
