2019 Topps 52-Card Baseball Game Set Details
Born out of a tradition between Mayne and his Uncle Buck, 2019 Topps 52-Card Baseball Game lets fans recreate the magic from his youth. While the design is much more modern, collectors may recall similar ideas in 1968 Topps and 1951 Topps Blue Backs / Red Backs.
Priced at $19.99, every set contains the entire 52-card base lineup along with two random variations. The variations add 26 new players to the roster with two extra players per Ace, King, Queen, and so on. If you want to complete the variation set, Topps also sells Booster Packs for $4.99. These contain five random variations.
How to Play the 2019 Topps 52-Card Baseball Game
So, how do you play the 2019 Topps 52-Card Baseball Game? Don't worry, it's pretty simple. Think War (high card wins) with an added baseball flavor. Games go the standard nine innings and three outs but you can obviously tailor it to your preferences.
After you draw a card (or flip a coin) to decide who is the home team and who is the away team, the shuffled deck is split in half and each player takes 26 cards. From there, the "pitcher" and "batter" battle with strikes, balls, hits and outs called based on the cards flipped by each player. The mat is used to show who is on base and to help keep track of the scoring. Tie goes to the person batting.
