2019 Panini Prizm Draft Picks Football Cards

Just wanted to revisit this product following the release of Panini’s Basketball Prizm Draft Picks product: Why aren’t there more rookies in this product? Basketball is 100% rookies. I know there is limited value in non-skill position players in football, but limited does not mean no value and I would greatly prefer more rookies to the vets. Hugely weakens the value of this product in my eyes.

By far my favorite draft product. I don’t know why anyone would buy Contenders Draft, the quality of these cards is far better.

I haven’t written about this product, because I just opened up Contenders Draft Picks. Out of 12 autographs, 10 went undrafted. One of those kids was a late Alabama prospect. Since the NFL Draft begain (I looked it up) 17 players have been undrafted. The NFL isn’t like the NBA, where tons of talented players like Ron Covinction or Kent Bazemore don’t get drafted. I could totally be wrong, but I HAVE to think that this set is FLODDED w/tons of NON-DRAFTEES. Just think about it. Who’s more milling to sign their autograph, Vince Papale or Lynn Swann? Is there a way to find out just how many autos are printed of each collegiate player?

Both Packers First rounders are not in the 35 card rookie base ;(

I also bought a hobby box first off the line. As with any draft I had to study before opening the box so I knew who is who in the draft. Received one second round pick and a couple people that didn’t even get drafted.
So I did what I never do, went to target and bought for blaster packs (I think they’re called) and my $60 target purchase rewarded me so much more than the $150 hobby box.
I don’t want to give up on these, but I might.
But let’s be honest, it’s the drafts fault too not just Panini.

Saw a blaster in my local Target. Box said 1 auto, but mine did not contain one. Boooooo!! Living in Cleveland, I was happy with pulling Paris Campbell (OSU) and Baker Mayfield. But disappointed I did not get an auto. Would have been happier with a Bosa or Haskins..

Opened 1 hobby box, 4 retail boxes, 3 hanger packs. The only possible 1st round pick auto I got was Johnathan Abram and I got 2 of the same card of his.

Where is the Contenders Optic Set Checklist part of this set? I cant find any info online about it. Is it a mistake or simply going to be released in a different way later? Also N’Keal Harry is on the auto checklist, no autos anywhere of his in this product.

Like anything, it’s a gamble.
It’s an affordable product and you never know what player is going to do what. Murray could be a bust and then you could have Taylor Rapp be some superstar in a few years. This is your first crack as prospect autos, just like in baseball products. This is a good PC product and lots of color if you’re looking to collect rainbows. I wouldn’t invest a ton into this, but it’s definitely fun to open. Very slick looking cards. Go Hawkeyes!

Bought one box and only got one player projected to go in the top 2 rounds and no colored autos. That was most likely my first and last box.

180 + rookie autos to clarify….

35 base rookies and 180+ rrookies tell you all you really need to know unfortunately

Notre Dame is on the checklist, but there aren’t any cards anywhere. Did they not get them signed in time?

Are there going to be blaster retail of this product. Have no seen it or found it anywhere and thought panini said there would be some

2 Tight Ends from the same school could go 1st round and you didn’t include them in the dual auto…

Went back on Saturday and watched nine more cases broke. From the nine cases there were four cards of what will be the top picks. Lock, Grier, Bosa and a Haskins redemption. There were about 30 or so WINO autos pulled from these. Huge risk and not much of a return.

I agree with you Kevin. There are 35 base Draft Picks in the set. Some shouldn’t even be in this set period. Josh Allen out of Kentucky should have been a MUST. This is coming from a Tennessee Vol fan too. LOL!

Montez Sweat out of Miss. State is another one that should have had at base card too. He’s a projected Top 10 Draft Pick. He does have a Silver Prizm auto but not a base card. For 40 cards per Hobby Box @ a price over $100 these cards are overpriced.

They have made some nice changes to the looks of the cards but still the price is too much. I could see a Hobby Box selling for $75-$85 but not over $100.

Saw five cases ripped at the local today and not a single “future big time auto” pulled from the break unless you consider Hunter Renfro because that was the best offensive auto pulled. Who are these guys?????

As usual this is a weird checklist of base. Why does Panini consistently choose Red Grange, Brett Favre, etc. as a base card in a DRAFT PICK series? I get the value for the general audience is increased by recognizable names, but they need to change them up, do 10 and 25 year anniversary draft retrospectives or something to at least keep a DRAFT theme. Lame and lazy. Also, I know defensive cards aren’t premium but Bosa is really the only defensive draft prospect in base? Absurd. Is Panini telling me they think collectors would prefer a Brett Rypien card to a Quinnen Williams or Josh Allen?
