Updating my earlier comments with a score. These are a lot of fun and I have found 4 different targets with multiple boxes so far. I have picked up about 20 myself while my wife and son just picked up 6 from a rural target for Father’s Day…cracking into those right now! Love the design and high value.

The vendor in my area specifically goes out of his way not to stock this product. He has a handful of phone numbers of buyers that he sells them to at his own markup. I’m not going to divulge the markup, because its utterly pathetic. Now that I know how the process works, I will be going to the Target store, and asking a manager to open the boxes for me and I will buy them w/o the Vendor knowing. They’re not vendors, the boxes are shipped to the store, and these are people that are paid to stack the shelves. For 3 years I have wasted time and money searching for a product that some old man sells on the side. It’s absolutely amazing. From when I was a kid, to now that I’m an adult, the shadiness that takes place within this hobby has come full circle. If there is someplace online where I can post my entire experience with this vendor, somebody please LMK, as I need to get it off my chest.

I had been looking for these at two local Target stores and finally found 10 boxes for sale yesterday. I bought 6 and left the others. I went back today and they were gone. Along with a bunch of Mojo cards, I got a Keegan Thompson Mojo auto, Tatis Jr. Mojo, Vlad Jr. Ready for the Show Mojo, and 4-5 other numbered cards.

Would rate zero if I could. Bowman mega box getting worse by the year. Opened 16 boxes, 1 auto, 4 numbered cards (all to 250). Lost my shirt on these. Save your money.

Got my hands on 13 of these…got a Vlad Guerrero Jr. Auto which was fun. Never had any luck finding these before randomly finding a few at a sleepy Target last weekend.

A buddy of mine went to Target yesterday during lunch and the third party was stocking the shelves. He put out 8 mega boxes and we bought all of them. I opened one of the 8 last night and pulled a Mojo Wander Auto.
I think the product is fantastic. it’s only getting knocked because people haven’t figured out when they are being stocked. Ours are put out every other Tuesday.

5 Stars. I guess as a Target assistant manager I am biased but this is my favorite retail based product. It’s hard to make any money on buying retail but the combination of rarity plus my 10% employee discount means I almost always have success with this one rather busting a case or reselling. I hate all the base but the mojo packs are awesome.

I’ve noticed on many of the Bowman Chrome and Mega Boxes that the word “refractor” is not on any of the numbered cards that are “supposedly” refractors. I went on e-bay to some who sold the “refractor” cards and checked the back of the card and the word “refractor” was not showing on the back of the card like they used too. How can you tell which are the refractors if they are not designated as such? Thanks for your help.

For the exclusive Chrome cards in the Bowman Mega boxes, there are only the base cards and the numbered parallels. Since every parallel is numbered and has a different color border, it is very clear what you have.

Hello Trey. Found an error in your product details here: 4 Packs of 2018 Bowman Baseball (10 cards per pack)

That should be 4 Packs of 2019 Bowman Baseball & not 2018. Thanks.

I found 12 boxes at a Target yesterday and bought them all. Pulled a Joey Bart Green Auto. The Mega Refractors are beautiful. It does suck when you search and search and can’t find any. I know I was very lucky to find the 12 I did find. I doubt I’ll ever get that lucky again.

Just bought 2 boxes online at Target. They limit it to 2 per customer.

MITCHELL WELBORN

Bought 12 boxes at a local Target. Drove around to 3 more and none was on shelf. 1 less pack and $5 more this year. Out of the 24 mega packs I got 0 autos and 0 pipeline inserts. I am done with them this year. Stopping while I am behind.

I guess I lucked out and found 3 boxes placed behind Pokemon/magic card section boxes. Someone was coming back for these I think. They rang up 17.99 each for me. I opened one box and was very unimpressed… I don’t know what the point of the bowman standard packs that have base? That’s great and all for set builders but 40 cards to over 300 card base card set isn’t necessary. The other 4 Chrome packs will be selling to recoup. Just sell the Chrome packs in a 2-pack fat pack… my suggestion.

ToppsSux

This product never ceases to disappoint based on the face its scarcity is 100% fictionally based on a few scalpers skimming from employees and distributors. The distribution is an embarrassment to Target and Bowman/Topps. Well I guess you cant shame the shameless monopoly (Topps). From what I’ve seen published the street date is TODAY, yet my local stores “never” got any merch and the boxes are already all over secondary sites. Its products like this that make me think the BB card collecting industry is heading into a 2nd bust. In 10 years will these be like 1991 UD boxes? For the hoarders sake I hope so!

Jim S.
Jim S.

Topps really must be desperate for money. They had this at a great deal in 2018…. But they took a pack out…and raised the price 5 bucks. I will not buy any of these this year! All the greedy dealers out there will…. Hope they get stuck with them… I will not recommend this to anyone in the hobby.

As most of my only access to a “hobby only” product is through retail exclusives, this is my favorite of the bunch. Although the Topps Chrome Update last year (from Target) was pretty cool.

I have looked for this product in past years. While it is difficult to find when it first comes out, I have had relative success as this product seems to have like 2 to 3 restock cycles. I expect it will be the same again this year. I have been able to open some boxes as I came across them at Target at opening time. There was another person there and we split the boxes that were on the shelf (12). I like the design and I think that the autos are an upgrade with them being on-card (with the exception of the photo variation autos).

Hopefully I will find some next week or the week after. But thank you for printing the set checklist! Always hard to decipher the 100 card set from among the 150 Bowman Chrome one.

So I’m 14 years old, and I go to my local Target (Columbia, MO) and I look at the card aisle and they have 30 boxes of bowman mega out on the shelves!
I was surprised and since I’m 14 I could only afford one. I got home and opened the packs I, I pulled a Joey Bart 1st bowman chrome and a few others like Keston Hiura and Casey Mize. I was pretty happy and I opened up the mojo packs and pulled a Victor Victor Mesa 1st bowman and a Will Banfield auto! For a kid that’s Awesome. I love these boxes and they are the only bowman products I open!

Corey

Well I’m now going on my THIRD YEAR IN A ROW where I cannot find a box anywhere in my area, yet somehow an actual CASE has been sold on Ebay for almost $1K. This is very frustrating. Being that its a retail product, how would one go about in getting a SEALED FACTORY CASE? Why did I ever get back into this hobby? I’m going to contact Topps and ask them that same question.

Ew

I agree that there are probably some things going on with distribution. However, each target store is ran differently from each other. It all depends on the manager of the store. Some targets in my area which is 6 stores have different rules. One rule is employees can not buy an item off or on the shelf until one day later. Second, some stores push the cases that the cards come in to the front of the store by the card aisle and some will allow you to go through them and some will not. (Note) I have personally talked to the guy who etocks the cards and he told me that he didnt mind if i open the cases as long as i put everything back nice and neat like i found it. Thirdly, some targets stock the shelves themselves and don’t wait until the card guy to come in and stock. I went to a target thursday morning and waited for the doors to open and walked to the cards and shazam their was 12 mega boxes sitting on the shelf. I bought all of them for me and 2 other friends. The manager checked me out and I asked her if the card guy was recently in and she told me he was in later the day before and he stocks all the targets in the whole area. So with I went to the next store 6 miles down the road and they had nothing on the shelves. I thought that was strange and there was no obvious empty shelf space where they might have been. I talked to the manager there and she said that had been in the day before but didnt recall if he put out nor did they sell any mega boxes. I told her I found them at a store six miles away and asked why they were not here. She just said i dont know. So, yes. There are shady things going on as everyone who looks for these items knows. My question is how the heck does dave and adams and blowout get huge amounts of these boxes to sell on their website when its a exclusive target store only release? Doing the math based on the purple refractors i estimate that topps made 10,000 16 box cases. That should roughly come out to 2 1/2 cases or 30 boxes per store. So why and where are all these boxes. There should be enough for everybody to get a few boxes. Anyway, thats enough ranting. Good luck looking.

scott parker
scott parker

got lucky and walked into target while the cards were being stocked and snagged the mega boxes. Looks like Topps made double the boxes this year. much harder to hit refractors, still a nice looking product and great player selection.

Fred
Fred

I saw them on Target website Wednesday May 15th. On Friday 5-17 no longer for sale on line.

LC
LC

It has been hard to get them in the past I know a guy in the area that buys them up when they arrive I never knew how he got them before as I would show up for day of release. This year I was there before him and picked up the six boxes they had stocked and dispersed to friends who collect along with some for myself.

Bull
Bull

I’m sure I’d give it a 5 star rating if I was able to buy and open a box myself. First…This past summer all the Target’s in my area cut their sports card inventory down by 75%-80% for some reason. Second…the past couple of years when Mega is released, I’ve seen employees coming from the stock room with 4-5 boxes, heading to the checkouts, and not a damn box on the shelves. When I complained about it to the store manager, I was told that once it hits the shelves, it’s whomever gets them first. “Sorta damn hard for anyone other than your employees to buy any, especially when the boxes never leave the stockroom.” was my response. B**** just walked away without saying another word. I’ve complained to corporate, but that’s like fart’n in the wind.

Sun
Sun

The distribution of this mega box product is faulty. Excell Marketing is in charge of distribution of the Topps brand and they are based out out of Iowa. The head honcho is. a guys names Steve Saunders. I suggest complaining to them. Every year it is the same old song. Its gotten so bad that you can no longer wait online early at stores anymore. Industry guys find out when they pallets are being delivered and bribe the truck guys as well as target store personnel so they have first dibs. You will never see this product at a Target brick n mortar on shelf. Its sad but true.

Jay, do what I do. Go to Target.com and order them. Have them shipped to you. I’ve never seen online sold out right away

Jacob
Jacob

This is a product I would like but yes Jay is right. While I am at work, all the scalpers are at the stores waiting to buy them all. On eBay, there are multiple sellers who have the whole case for sale and the price is tripled or more! As the Phillie’s fans like to say: “BOOOOO!!!!”

1 Star because “CARD GUYS” locally find out before hand when they are being stocked and buy out all of our TARGETS and then sale them for 3-4x price
