Ok so instead of reviewing based on last year, I actually opened an inner case (10 boxes). 4 autos and 2 Cast for Greatness. Also there are two different types of scratch off back designs – mistake? Something tells me production was scaled back. This product is what it is – feel free to buy The Cup or such if you are only chasing Big Hits. Only complaint would be that it is actually harder to complete a base red set than the bounty

thank you fulton cards. ud says 3 sticker autographs per case. u buy a couple boxes pretty good shot of getting nothing. collect what u like. if u feel like u r wasting money on cards buy what u like on ebay or collect something else.

Man alive. The amount of venom directed at this particular UD product! But, why this one? UD has countless offerings with only a handful of cards, and price points over $100 – sometimes $200. UD Ice is a $100 product that could easily be $50, based on the stated odds. The hobby has been around some 110 years! For most of the last century, autos and game-used cards didn’t even exist. Here, UD is simply attempting to break the paradigm again, play with colours and textures, and splash some creativity and innovation into the hobby.

We should reward risk-taking, or at least appreciate that not all releases are for everyone. So, to me at least, these cards are meant to be more like toys for kids to flip through, and maybe even destroy in chasing the bounty. Synergy is not about autos, or hits. It is about Holy Grail clear base cards, a plethora of rookies, complex tiers, and punchy parallels (much like OPC Platinum). Full stop. And, if that is not your thing, then why consume yourself with hate. There is already enough of that on social media. Focus on the products where you fit squarely within the target market, and enjoy.

I know I’m invariably in the minority. When I see a product this playful, layered, and geometric, I don’t feel like taking to the streets to topple the embassy. I think, cool. Huh. Interesting. Or, sure; perhaps Synergy should be labelled and priced as retail. But I love departures, and the notion of expanding constituencies – and assumptions.

And, if price is your beef, this is not exactly the most egregious price point in the hobby. I personally find The Cup to be the ugliest, most uninspired, incomprehensible line on our planetoid. But that’s me. So, again, I’m not the target market. I personally don’t sweat the $500 price point because I am not the one dropping the cost of a couch or a laptop on a box of cardboard. And if I were, that would be more my fault than UD. Or maybe my pockets are deep and billowy.

But go ahead and vent. You do you. I prefer to hit the gym.

How has this product entered into its 3rd year when more interesting/higher-rated products like Portfolio didn’t survive after one release? I’d even take Contours over this…

Upper Deck has a lot to learn from topps. Over $5 per card? No thanks

Hahahahahaha!!!! Seriously! Now, I really mean, seriously Upper Deck??!! I saw junk many times since I’ve been in the collecting business, but I would’t touch this set with a 10 foot pole. This beats them all. I believe this is the first time I’ve read in the Cardboard Connection description that a product is bad. Sure, they put it mildly, but they still say it:))) : ‘Perhaps the third time’s a charm’ for this ´oft-criticized NHL set’… after which they say that in fact UD didn’t change almost anything, besides the fact that they pushed the release date. This shows how much they care about their customers. I understand this is a business and they have to make money, but how can you release the same product 3 years in a row although everybody says is a junk??!! And they don’t even try to fix it or to revamp it a bit. They could for example bring back Fleer Showcase…or anything else beside releasing this product. If I could I would give it 0 stars…
