Giving collectors a small taste of hockey cards across multiple designs, 2019-20 Panini Chronicles Hockey features several different sets in one online-exclusive series. The cards don't carry NHL licensing and highlight the same two rookies for the New York Rangers: Kaapo Kakko and Vitali Kravtsov.
Despite these limitations, Panini has issued quite a few options for the '19-20 collecting season. The multi-brand Chronicles release is joined by 2019-20 Immaculate Hockey, 2019-20 Panini Prime Hockey, 2019-20 Contenders Hockey, 2019-20 Select Hockey, 2019-20 Score Hockey and 2019-20 Prizm Hockey.
Priced at $149.99 each, the Chronicles Hockey packs release at 10 AM (Eastern) on November 16, 2020, from the Panini store. In addition to a hard-signed Kakko autograph, each pack has another autograph, gem or patch card.
2019-20 Panini Chronicles Hockey Set Details
Although Chronicles has become a staple in the Panini portfolio, 2019-20 Panini Chronicles Hockey is not utilized the same as other sports. For one thing, there are no Chronicles-branded cards to uncover as the entire set is comprised of other sets.
In addition to updates for Contenders and Score, the set has a decidedly high-end focus via the on-card Crown Royale Silhouettes, Dominion, Flawless, Impeccable and National Treasures rookie autographs.
Every pack contains one hard-signed Kaapo Kakko rookie autograph as well as one other card that can be an autograph or a Flawless Gem / Flawless Patch insert.
Kakko also has licensed Team Finland versions.
