2018 Panini Prizm Football Cards

As I stated in my earlier opinion concerning this specific set of cards , I like the set on the whole and I greatly appreciate your answer pertaining to my questions about the so – called scarce or short printed cards . One thing that confuses me is the Michael Gallup RC silver prism auto gives no indication that it is an RC card on the front of the card , or if it’s rare in any way . Also , it doesn’t tell me anywhere in the product information whether this is an on card auto or a sticker auto . It definitely looks hard signed on eBay pics but there is no way to know for sure. lol i pulled two LVE RC Green Shimmer Autos

My son found a Prizm Football blaster box today in Target and it is the 1st box I have ever bought him (he’s 6). We got home and I expected to get standard stuff for $19.99. In the second pack, my son pulled a disco Autographed Sam Darnold! I couldn’t believe it! Probably won’t see another hit like that in my lifetime. The odds of getting a product that is supposedly out of stock, very unlikely. The odds that box would contain one of the biggest rookies out there, even less. Look under the shelves!

I really loved the Basketball version of this, and I guess I assumed that the football would be the same. So, Friday, when I saw that this Walmart had 3 MegaBoxes, 1 Blaster and a bunch of those Value Packs w/Red,White and Blues I was stoked and jumped all over it. It certainly is not a mirror image of its basketball brethren. In all of those packs, I did not get ONE silver card (the inserts are all silver). I spent over $250 and the best hit was a Derwin James Auto (which I was stoked about) until I found out that the Neon Green Pulsar is worth ****. Besides that, I guess my best hit was a Base Barkley. As usual, retail is like throwing money down the toilet.

I really like this set on the whole but there are colored parallels that are popping up on eBay that there is no information about. Do you know anything about the Disco or bubble refractor cards or the white Sparkle base color parallel refractors that are supposedly only 20 or less were made. Neither one of them are serial numbered so is there is no way to be sure how many were made but sellers on eBay are saying things about rumored to be this and rumored to be that. I was just wondering if you know anything about these two color parallels Trey? Also the red white and blue color parallel. I’d appreciate it if you had any information on these three non serial-numbered color parallel bass cards that are popping up. Jim

People kill me who complain about a product because they didn’t get the cards they wanted in a product or feel they didn’t get their money’s worth because they can’t sell it for more than they paid. Prizm is one of the most fun products every year. The chase for all hobby and retail variations keeps this product going. I only gave it 3 stars because they allowed a certain online company to drive the price over $200/box which is a ripoff. The only other complaint I have is getting points cards in $35 retail box that only offers 1 auto to start with. Besides that, I love it, as always!

**NEWS ALERT: It is ALWAYS cheaper to go buy the card you want than to bust wax. Opening boxes is no different than putting your money in a slot machine…you hit, or you don’t…most of the time it’s the latter. Same with online case breaks. If you truly think you are supposed to get what you paid (or more) every time, you probably should find another hobby.

The Mega Boxes look to be the runaway hit. You can pull a Green Pulsar Auto of Barkley!! I pulled an Anthony Miller Pulsar Auto plus got a base Barkley RC from my $35 box. I am not impressed at all from the hobby breaks that I have seen. Not one box from whole case came close to being worth $175/box now. The retail $35.00 boxes are the only way to go in my opinion.

I am there with you Brandon. I opened 1 hobby box, 1 blaster, 6 hanger packs and 2 walmart mega boxes. 3 base autos out of hobby box worth about 10.00 on a good day. 2 green pulsar autos out of the 2 mega boxes minka and luke falk who was cut. 1 josh allen, 1 josh rosen base rookie out all the product. No darnold, mayfield or barkley base rookies out of 340.00 dollars of product. For some reason I keep pulling troy fummagali base rookies, 4 total. I feel like I have been ripped off. The racks are the worse. Out od three packs they give you 1 base rookie and maybe if your lucky a colored prizm rookie. The bonus pack gives you 1 rookie card. 2 base rookies for 10.00. Wow, what a rip. The mega box from walmart at least gives you 10 base rookies and a auto for 34.98. I learned my lesson well and starting buying the rookies i cant pull on ebay. For the money i spent, i could have bought 20 base mayfield rookies, 1 base auto rookie and a diecut rookie #199 and still had 40.00 left. With 100 rookies in the checklist it is very hard to pull any one player. Avoid buying this product and just buy what you want. Trust me.

Avoid this product! Half the rookies have been released or on the practice squad. I bought 5 blaster boxes and 7 hanger packs. The 5 blasters all had dud relics although it was a guaranteed auto or relic, an auto wasn’t anywhere in sight. The seven hanger packs featured one auto, but it was another dud who’s not even on an NFL roster anymore! Rookies were as follows: one Mayfield, one Ridley, one Jackson, one Chubb. No Barkley or Darnold, but plenty of garbage rookies. This product is an absolute joke. I spent close to $200 and would take $25 for everything I pulled!

I enjoyed opening the product. I bought several boxes from my local store and once I got home I was excited to open some NFL boxes for the first time in probable 10 years. The chrome cards remind me of some of the older style cards in other brands. The refractors are cool, and I was lucky and pulled some auto/patch cards that are only 1 per case. I’m hoping the resell value on some of the key players is well, but enjoyed the inserts.

I previously reviewed this product and was a bit hesitant to review it at the 1 star level. After having participated in 3 PYT case breaks and busting 2 personal boxes as well, very frustrated. The worst PRIZM release in years (perhaps ever). Nice design and that is where the positives stop. Out of 3 cases in which I had the Cowboys spot, the only 3 autos I got were Bo Scarbrough. A dude that got cut in training camp. That is it!!! That is all!!! Literally no Zeke refractors!!!! I got no Gallup, White, or Vander Esch refractors in 3 cases. I have long thought someone at Panini is skimming the Cowboys out of the product and this pretty much cements it. When I see multiple Josh Allens, Sam Darnolds, Mayfields, Saquons autos pulled in 3 cases but the only Cowboys auto are Scarbrough. Horrible product this year and that is extremely frustrating because PRIZM has always been one of my favorites.

2 hobby boxes 3 point cards…. trash

Look forward to Prizm each year, especially with the demise of the Topps football license (this is pretty much as close to Topps Chrome as we’re going to get). Looks like the major change this year is that the Rookie base set is no longer all Silver refractors, with only one Silver per box. This year’s design is also a little wonky, so I can only give it four stars instead of five. But with a Rookie class like this, it’s hard to fault the autograph checklist. Good way to pass the time until Contenders at the end of the year…

The cards look great, especially the colour prizms, but no RC logos on the rookie autograph cards is a shocker.

I’m new to collecting in the past several years and never have gotten into Prizm. I’ve heard many good things about the product tho…. that being said I’m extremely disappointed looking at this checklist. I’m a collector that enjoys chasing big veteran Autos.

this set is filled with error cards,one guy on the front and another on the back,i pulled 40 out of one box.very sad

Meh. Dissapointing and lazy – rookies in practice uniforms still, guys that were cut before the 53 still in the checklist (Lazard at the Jags as example). No Taven Bryan in the Jaguars checklist – people like defensive players too. Still no RC on the rookie autos. It’s always a fun set, but the checklist is left me more than a bit flat.

1 Base/Rookie Prizm is what really bothers me about pulling from a hobby box break. I mean ONLY 1? The inserts odds(3 Autographs,
4 Inserts, 9 #’d Prizm Cards) plus 24 rookies on average being pulled from a box isn’t bad but to place only 1 Base/Rookie Prizm per hobby box is quite bothersome to me especially with the hobby box pricing of ~$170.

There should be a minimum of 3-5 of these Base/Rookie Prizm cards per hobby box & not just 1. Big turn off for me but I’ve always loved the Prizm cards so I will probably either buy a few packs or maybe end up getting a hobby box but it’s not a given like in the past. Thanks

Thought about giving this product a 1 star, but realize I will probably still do a break or 2. That being said, I usually average about 10-15 case breaks of PRIZM as it has been one of my favorite products. Panini took a major step back this year in my opinion. No VET Autos!!! Dan Bailey for the Cowboys in the main set! SERIOUSLY??? Worthless! I just sold a Bailey 2018 Spectra Cowboys auto card for $3 on eBay. I mean, how about Witten? Or Jaylon Smith or Byron Jones? Major step back this year. Hope my other favorite product (Select) doesn’t do the same, but I am betting it does.

I would be more excited about the 2018 football prizm sets if there were Hall of Famers in this like last year. I thought the NFL MVPs, NFL Hall of Fame and especially the Super Bowl MVPs cards were fantastic last year. Why not have more of these in the 2018 sets???
