Making one of Panini's most popular (and elusive) original inserts—KABOOM!—more readily available to the masses, 2018 Panini Kaboom Rewards supplies fans with comic-book style images of top athletes from the worlds of baseball, basketball, football, and soccer.
However, the new Kaboom! line is only available via Panini Rewards, which is primarily Panini's online platform to handle the oft-criticized point cards that randomly take the place of hits in boxes of cards.
Although heavily associated with NBA sets, most notably Excalibur Basketball, collectors may also remember their inclusion in 2017-18 Select Soccer and 2013-14 Innovation Basketball.
2018 Panini Kaboom Rewards Multi-Sport Set Details
The 2018 Panini Kaboom Rewards checklist features 50 stars taken from a handful of key sports. This includes past and present players from the MLB, NBA, NFL, and international soccer. Five of the subjects are shown in a horizontal layout rather than the more common vertical orientation.
While the base design displays a silver foil explosion in the background, there are also debut parallels in Gold (#/10) and Green (1/1).
The football cards note 2018 rookies. Going back a bit further for basketball players, the RC treatment is provided to the 2017-18 NBA rookie class.
The two-card packs are priced in Panini Rewards points (2,500 points per pack), and capped at five packs per household each day.
Sales begin on Friday, December 14, at 3 PM CST.
