It might not have quite the prestige as 1982 Wrestling All-Stars or 1985 Topps WWF Pro Wrestling Stars (not to mention its O-Pee-Chee counterpart), but 1987 Topps WWF trading cards remains a memorable set from one of the company's greatest eras.
The main set has 75 cards. Besides basic superstar cards, there are a few subsets. Ringside Action returns to showcase in-ring moments and key storylines leading up to the set's release. Superstars Speak, another subset from the 1985 set, is also back. These have a TV design and give superstars speech bubbles filled with corny jokes. Wrestlemania III, the landmark card headlined by Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant, has its own nine-card subset.
1987 Topps WWF is easy to identify thanks to its bright blue outer borders. Superstars cards have a look that mimics the American flag in the background. Ringside Action uses an inner border that resembles an overhead view of the ring.
Stickers are inserted one per pack. The set has 22 different. The images are die-cut, which is common for a lot of Topps stickers in the 1970s and '80s. Backgrounds are bright red with tiled blue WWF logos. Sticker backs fit together to form one of two different puzzles.
1987 Topps WWF isn't a hard set to find. Both singles and unopened wax are somewhat easy to find on the secondary market.
