From a checklist perspective, 1985 Topps Traded Baseball is one of the weakest ever produced for the update line. Not only are there relatively few rookie cards in the set, those that are there aren't very strong.
Packaged as a 132-card box set, the 1985 Topps Traded Baseball checklist is led by the Ozzie Guillen rookie card. Other rookies in the set include Mickey Tettleton and Vince Coleman. All were solid players during their time, but none have any substantial star power in hobby circles. Among the veterans in the set are Rickey Henderson, Gary Carter and Bruce Sutter.
1985 Topps Traded Baseball maintains the base 1985 Topps Baseball design. Card fronts have a large player photo bordered with white. The most distinct feature is the name plate at the bottom. A large diagonal box has the player's team name with the team logo next to it. Below is the player name and position. Cards are numbered with a 'T' to help differentiate Traded cards from the flagship set.
Topps also experimented with 1985 Topps Traded Baseball packs. Today they are rare and command a premium higher than the cards themselves.
Dealers buying cases of sets received a Pete Rose bronze mini card. Measuring 1 1/4" by 1 3/4", it is a reprint of Rose's 1985 Topps card.
