1963 Bazooka All-Time Greats Baseball takes a step back into the game's history, offering stylish cards of some early stars.
The only Bazooka set to be inserted in gum boxes rather than on the box itself, the checklist consists of 41 players. Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Ty Cobb, Cy Young and Honus Wagner are just a handful of the Hall of Famers in the set.
Each specially marked box of gum came with five cards. Each measures 1 9/16 x 2 1/2". This makes them similar in size to traditional tobacco cards.
Players are shown as black and white floating heads. They're case against an old-fashioned background that gives them the look of a plaque. This background is done with foil. The majority are in gold, however there are silver versions as well. These are much rarer and command a significant premium. Backs state when and where the player was born along with a short writeup.
Given the age of the set and the checklist, 1963 Bazooka All-Time Greats Baseball is reasonably priced. Even high condition cards of top players can be found to fit most budgets.
